Nov 5, 2009 Bottle thanks to Cavie. Dark pour with a tan head. Aroma is faint. Lots of coffee flavor, chocolate, roasted malts. A little watery. Lasting coffee aftertaste.

Nov 29, 2009 Pours hazy dark brown with a thin beige head. Aroma is lemon, toffee, plum and spice. Taste is sweet dark fruit and then a bitter roast/hop finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Aug 20, 2007 bottle courtesy of boboski: pours a nice chocolate brown colour with mocha like coloured head. aroma that is roasted malt some chocolate, sweet toffee malts in the background. flavour is very toasted chocolate very smooth with some kind of dark sugar.

Jan 25, 2009 Cool 500ml swingtop bottle, with a big thanks to jjpm74/cletus. Pours a clear dark brown with ruby highlights and a thin tan head; moderate retention and lacing. Aroma is nuts, caramel, grains/bread, and some molasses. Flavor is smooth, with more nut, bread, molasses, light coffee, and some spice - liquid bread indeed! Tasty stuff, thanks again John!

Feb 6, 2005 Really liked this one! Dark brown with a big roasted nose. Full creamy body. Sweetness is perfectly balanced. Roasted malt flavors with some chocolate and just enough bitterness to keep the sweet in check. Smooth and drinkable!

Sep 23, 2006 Updated: Oct 13, 2006The beer pours very dark brown, dark amber shine through if held up to the light, with a very fine, light tan head. The aroma smells malty - some caramel and some vanilla, with some roasted smells too (bitter chocolate, freshly ground coffee beans). The flavor is very nice: lots of sweet malts, some spicey hops, and some other flavors - caramel, maple, coffee. The alcohol is detectable in the flavor, too - though it is minimal. The balance of the beer is very nice - and very appropriate for the style (i.e. good bit maltier than it is hoppy). The mouthfeel is a little thick. The beer finishes with some cloying sweetness, hints of acidity (I presume from the carbonation), and a soft bitterness.

May 26, 2008 Bottle pours an almost black color with off white head. Has a nice aroma that is more subtle than I like. Mouthfeel is medium. Has a nice smooth creamy texture. Has a more malt taste that is sweet with a slight hop flavor on the backend. Nice brew.
