Strong roasted malt aroma that is sweet and rather inviting. Sweet grainy taste with plenty of roasted malts. The best doppelbock I’ve tried, although I’ve never been tremendously big on the style. NIce classic malty-choco-bread doppelbock aroma. Taste is nice and malty with a bitter kick at the end. Worth your while. darn1207 (668), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

Slightly muted aroma of dark fruits, nuts and roasted malts. earthy sourness to it. comes off as more of a belgian than doppelbock. creamy medium texture. milk shake vibe to it. light hop bitterness comes through in the finish. great beer - though very different than what I have as a typical doppelbock. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 24, 2007 Pours a deep chestnut colour with a micro-bubble tan head that fades at a modest pace. On the nose there is distict grahm cracker notes, along with some nuts and licorice and dates. The flavour is immediately bitter with intense berry, molases, raisin, chocolate and roasted malt gracing the tongue directly after the initail bitterness. The finish is long and palate is insanely full. This is like desert in a glass, absolutely incredible. Carl99Fan (186), Suwanee, Georgia, USA

Dark coffee color. Huge flavor, truly a sipping beer. Dark malt flavor with hints of coffee, chocolate, and caramel. Sparky27 (1642), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Pours a murky brown with a one finger tan head that leaves light lacing. The nose is molasses, dark fruit, caramel malt and light alcohol. The taste is dark chocolate, burnt malt, toasted barley and bitter hoppy coffee in the finish. Medium creamy body. Very good Dopplebock. 41cubs (149), , New Jersey, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 16, 2008 Malt, malt and malt!!! A truely saturated roasty feast. By all doppel standards a classic. Rich warm mayo malty aroma. Darker beer for the style with small lasting head. Taste is of pure, rich malty goodness and just a little bit of tangy sweetness. No carbonation which is appropriate. Mouthfeel is luxorious and full. Overall a great beer to enjoy at a higher temp, and a great substitute for a hot choco. Beats the flimsy pants off of Ayinger Celebrator. More Ovaltine please.
