Dark brown pour with medium off white head. Caramel and malts make their presence known right away in the aroma. Chocolate and caramel make up the most of this dessert substitute of a beer, with some slight nut, toffee, and dark fruit adding into the mix. Well made, neat bottle, overall solid brew. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 23, 2006 Julios Spring Beer Festival. Pour of slightly murkied medium nut brown, with ruddy fringes. Light fragrant gentle aroma of red plums and sweet melons. Rich and warmingly alcoholic taste of sweet brown sugar and a touch of almond paste. The malty crispness bellows through the light floral fruits and shows a rearing head of nipping alcohols. One lick from a good chocolate bar. A touch of euro hops round out for good balance. Well done. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA

Aroma is sweet cherries, caramel malt, chocolate, lesser molasses, brown sugar and anise. Flavor is more of the same without the anise component. Palate is generous, full and velvety for a bock beer. Finishes with a touch of creamy sweet malt and smoke. Pretty good, had hoped for a lot more. gputty (456), Virgina Beach, Virginia, USA
