Pours dark dark brown, almost black with a huge off-white rocky head. Oh, this is good, sweet, rich and creamy. No oxidation, This brew is up there with celebrator. Toffee, chocolate, and roasted malts dominate. Very smooth and drinkable the alcohol is well hidden. Top of the line. Bier brauen (215), Bremerton, Washington, USA

Flavor has lots of chocolate/cocoa backed up with a molasses sweetness. Finishes nutty and very dry, sucks the sweetness off the tongue. Incredibly rich palate, coats the mouth wonderfully and lingers a long time. Quite nice. herbjones (742), Orange, California, USA

Sweetness is perfectly balanced. Roasted malt flavors with some chocolate and just enough bitterness to keep the sweet in check. Smooth and drinkable! CaptainCougar (5527), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 11, 2004 Pours a dark murky brown with a thick, dark, cream-colored head. Aroma is full of sweet caramel malt, a touch of tartness, and a smooth German lager yeast profile. Body starts full, thick and sweet hinting at acidity, but turning smoother, sticky and very malty with a touch of bitterness. Finishes with some dark chocolate, floral hints of hops, and hides its alcohol quite well. Definitely a malty brew with some adherance to style, but it doesn’t quite have the authentic flavor it could. Many thanks to both boto and SpringsLicker for the bottles of this fine brew! Dense brownish red, creamy light tan head. Cherry toast and warm caramel bread aromas ride soft waves of molasses and brown sugar. Toasty sugared grapes and dark roasted figgy prune-like flavors balance well on a soft hop undertone. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying malty finish. A very well done representation of the style... JCW (1262), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
