shadey (1496), Rochester, New York, USA Jul 4, 2009 On tap at the brewery. A nice amber color with a really interesting spiced malt that makes it very attractive. This is a nicely done winter lager. The malts and spices are really well balanced thekmoonlegend (93), Lynn, Massachusetts, USA Jun 1, 2009 I had this beer at the brewery. Very spicy aroma as well as taste, lighter-bodied than it looks. I probably would have enjoyed this beer more if I was holed up inside on a snowy day. Cletus (4999), Connecticut, USA Mar 1, 2009 Draught sample at My Place in Newtown. Pours reddish brown with a thin tan head. Smells spicy and sweet. Tastes nutty and sweet with a spicy finish. dchmela (1406), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 24, 2008 On tap at a local place in Hartford. Pours a reddish brown with a thin white head. Sweet malty holiday spice and candy aroma. Smooth malty taste with a sweetness and holiday spices. Not a bad holiday brew. dogfish120love (250), west hartford, Connecticut, USA Dec 1, 2008 Pours a dark deep amber in coroation smalls heavy of malt and spice. I have to diagree with boto the spices seems too be pretty overpowering, but then again for a winter style beer it puts harpoon winter warmer too shame. boto (1319), Granby, Connecticut, USA Nov 29, 2008 Growler from the Brewery: This one pours a clear, ruby tinged dark amber color. There was a pretty decent tan head on it, but it subsides quickly. There is a nice aroma to it. The spices are up front, but not overpowering. The spices seem to be those that would be in an apple pie, plus a bit of oatmeal. Caramel malts also. The taste is good also. Spices are there, but not overdone. Some oatmeal and biscuity flavors also. A good malt body, but just a hint of sweetness. Nice brew.
