Aroma of caramel, molasses, dusty yeast, and butterscotch (diacetyl). Taste is too sugary sweet with ale fruitiness. Not what I was expecting, but not bad in its right, just not an Octoberfest. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly sticky with medium carbonation. Seems like this beer was fermented too warm, and that’s a shame. It could have been a good beer. jimhilt (1682), Bow, New Hampshire, USA

Clear amber color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is malty. Starts sweet with a good malt/hop mix, finish is bready. $1.55 for a 12oz bottle from Julio’s Liquors Westborough, Ma. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 1, 2005 Attractive amber color that grows a big, soft ivory foam. Keeps a solid skim on top throughout the session and the lacing is mostly drippy with some globs and displaced sheeting.
Aroma is clean and subdued carrying a tad of toffee with a rounded toasted realm to its waft but mostly dark and malty with a soft sweetness to it.
Taste starts out like many o-fests, full and malty, nicely creamy with very tender notions to toasted toffee, darker fruits, and some nuttyness. Finish creates a slightly dry smokey peet and wet woodyness. A nudge of deep sided hoppyness helps add some depth in the finish as well. Stays favorably clean and firm the whole ride through.
Mouthfeel is fairly full in the front and teeters from there but stays firmly set in its creamy/silken nature and finishes well with subtle tonality and very slight malty warmth.
The overall clean profile of this O-fest by Thomas Hooker is quite remarkable and probably the most intriguing part that I found and liked about it. Not to mention that it helps add some very good downability; that, along with a slimmer 6% ABV just begs for repeat fill ups. DrGonzo (625), Somerville, Massachusetts, USA

Faintly hoppy aroma, malts and bit of blackberry. Flavor is dominated by burnt sugar, combined with caramel and drizzled over well-cooked sweet potatoes. Lingering bitter and metallic finish. Decent if average octoberfest. LilKem (1210), Marietta, Ohio, USA
