Commercial Description:
Originally brewed to celebrate the beginning of the German brewing season and the 1810 wedding of crown prince Ludwig of Bavaria and his bride-to-be, princess Therese of Saxon-Hildburghausen. This amber beer was brewed in March ("Marzenbier") and left to age in cool lagering caves during the heat of the summer. Our rich and satisfying Bavarian-style OctoberFest comes from a special blend of imported German malts that creates a full-bodied brew and stresses a malty flavor and lingering aroma. Gently hopped and delicately balanced, its true-to-style, slow fermentation and long, cold maturation produces a luxuriously smooth, award-winning brew.

hazy brown pour with ok head. Aroma is quite nice, with malt, caramel, molasses, brown sugar. Flavor is nice, with some definite spice notes along with similarity to the aroma. Mouthfeel is light but pleasant, quite drinkable. Good brew.

12 oz bottle. Nicely carbonated amber color. Aroma is malty and bready, but not overpowering. Malty and a little sweet, with what tastes like a bitter hit of noble hops at the end. Way too easy to drink.

(Bottle). Caramel malt aroma. Reddish amber color with moderate head. Flavor is pleasing.....mildly sweet malt, with a bit of caramel and nuts. Lasting malt finish. Nice one.

Bottle 120z. Deep amber brown pour with sweet malty nose. Right on stylistically. Malt sweetness, bready, buscuit, carmel, butter (diacetyl) and all the flavor you expect in a fest. well done lads.

Unimpressive and slightly stinky toasted malt aroma which turns powdery once you pour. Good breadcrust red-brown color, sponge rubber head, plain label. An interesting flavor, following their blonde ale - a little peppery, a little green grain, very light anise or fennel. A light sweetness, slightly astringent, toasted malt. The only major flaw was a lingering metallic malt in the spicy finish. This is a good pairing with oniony or garlicky food. Distinctive, and better as it warms. Drinkable in quantity.

Special thanks to eaglefan538 for this one. I feel kind of funny rating an Oktoberfest Lager this high, but this was really darned good. Poured with huge head and lacing that clung to the glass throughout (I coulda even given this a 10 really). Aroma and flavor was sweet caramel malt with butter biscuit flavoring. Just the right amount of bitterness and carbonation. For the style, it can’t get much better.
