Commercial Description:
Originally brewed to celebrate the beginning of the German brewing season and the 1810 wedding of crown prince Ludwig of Bavaria and his bride-to-be, princess Therese of Saxon-Hildburghausen. This amber beer was brewed in March ("Marzenbier") and left to age in cool lagering caves during the heat of the summer. Our rich and satisfying Bavarian-style OctoberFest comes from a special blend of imported German malts that creates a full-bodied brew and stresses a malty flavor and lingering aroma. Gently hopped and delicately balanced, its true-to-style, slow fermentation and long, cold maturation produces a luxuriously smooth, award-winning brew.

fine tan head, light malt aroma, big body, rich malt flavor, light balancing bitterness, touch of carmel character, nice but a bit hoppy/bitter for the style

Appearance: Pours a dark amber body with a frothy, off-white head. Smell: Toasy caramel malt aroma with mild, floral hop notes. Taste: Again, more toasted caramel flavors with a bit of apple and earthy cinnamon. Fine, floral hop flavor and bitterness. Finishes flat and wholly underwhelming. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Not really one of my preferred oktoberfests.

I have to say I don’t like marzens and never really have but I thought I would give the style another go with this one. Pours out a copper orange with a quick lasting tan head that fades into nothing quick. Sweet aroma to it of maltiness and maybe some brown sugar. I don’t know how this is possible in a marzen but this beer actually had less flavor than it did in aroma. Flavor is very light and hard to distinguish besides just malt flavor. I suppose thats what this style goes for but c’mon there has got to be more!

Wonderful copper body, almost no head, perhaps because poured to early at a tasting at TRIA. Nose of caramel and malt, taste nasty and sour, musty. Fest is not my favorite style, but this was a disappointment.

Poured a dark nut brown with orange hues with a fast fading white head. Grainy, yeasty aroma that is slightly floral. Flavor is the same, malty and grainy and sweet. Finish leaves something to be desired. Flat and slightly off. I liked the initial flavor but not the end.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber body with thin head. Aroma is a sweet malt and crisp hops combo. Flavor is a bitter sweet with a nice hop balance with hints of nectarines and slight orange. Smooth and well balanced. Good Oktoberfest.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Leopoldstoch. Thanks! Pours an amber with 2 fingers of bubbly beige head. Smells of spice and malts. Nice and crisp, havin a hard time pickin out some distinct flavors, but definetly lots of malts. Very drinkable

Thanks Chuck. The beer pours to a dark amber body with a thin creamy tan head. Very nice color. The aroma is grainy with corn and lager yeasts. Basic. The flavor is grainy and bitter. Basic Octoberfest here. The palate is medium bodied.
