Commercial Description:
Originally brewed to celebrate the beginning of the German brewing season and the 1810 wedding of crown prince Ludwig of Bavaria and his bride-to-be, princess Therese of Saxon-Hildburghausen. This amber beer was brewed in March ("Marzenbier") and left to age in cool lagering caves during the heat of the summer. Our rich and satisfying Bavarian-style OctoberFest comes from a special blend of imported German malts that creates a full-bodied brew and stresses a malty flavor and lingering aroma. Gently hopped and delicately balanced, its true-to-style, slow fermentation and long, cold maturation produces a luxuriously smooth, award-winning brew.

Dark amber color - aroma of roasted malt and coffee beans. Taste is smoothly malty - just a little sweet, but more deep in malts. Clean, slightly roasty finish. Nice octoberfest.

Bottle from John (jjpm74) Thanks. Pours out an orange and brownish color with a thick tan head. All of these guys beers look awesome on the pour. Smell is rich and malty with some hop presence. Little grassy but a nice balance overall. Taste is sweet and rich. Not too bad either.

The odd thing is that this beer reminds me of tea-it seems to have this sweet bready herbal overtone with a hint of bitter tea leaves swimming in a caramel malty swirl.

From a 12 oz. brown bottle, fall ’06 release. Poured a cloudy, light golden hued amber with a foamy, fluffy off-white head that settled into a thin sudsy lacing, small amount of ringed sticking. Aromas of toasted grain, sweet caramel and lightly floral. Good carbonation and a crisp, creamy smooth light-medium bodied mouthfeel. Pleasant Octoberfest taste, toasted grain, sweet caramelized malts, lightly floral and a soft herbal hoppiness, and a sweet toasted malty finish. A very quaffable seasonal, tasty and balanced, well worth seeking out.

Pours a nice translucent, orange honey color with a thin, off-white head and very little lacing. Sweet malty taste upfront with a smooth, oily, lingering sweetness. Touch of earthiness and perhaps caramel. Have bought several times and would definitely buy again. A great Octoberfest.

A solid O’fest - semi-dry and herbal up front, followed by a mouthful of munich malt, maybe some caramel as well - crisp finish, yet semi-sweet and bready at the same time - I could down a few steins of this.
