hughie (2150), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Jul 14, 2008 Cask at Derby Festival ’08. Gold with a small white head. Slightly buttery aroma. Then comes a hint of sweetness followed by the eponymous blast of hoppiness. Very good.

The latest in their summer brewing competition (quickest selliing beer will win), this is the contribution from Head Brewer Stef. Two and a half pounds of hops in each barrel (including Amarillo , Chinook and Willamette) ought to give a hop blast..... well, it looks good and gold, slighly itching nose, certainly a superb array of hoppiness without being wincing. I’d rather have a shock of single hop but hey ho. More Hop Surprise than Shock but still a fresh, biting Thornbridge beer.
