Huge aroma of hops and citrus, particularly grapefruit and orange. Flavor is big with hops and citrus - orange, bitter but with a great balance of malty sweetness. A really nice beer. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA

Huge fresh grapefruit and pine dry hopped aroma. Big grapefruity hop flavor. Plenty of citrus. Is there malt in there? Who cares! (and yes there is some burried but giving balance) Smelled and tasted great. The finish kept the bitterness light. Medium bodied. More please. patrick767 (2051), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 5, 2006 tap at 3 Floyds - I guess I missed the subtleties of the aroma. To me it smelled like a pine forest, and i mean that in a good way. I can’t figure out how they coaxed that much pine aroma out of this beer without dumping pine needles in it. Anyway, it pours amber with a moderate, lasting head that leaves nice lacing. The flavor is a hoppy beast as expected with some light citrus notes. The malt balance is okay, but perhaps could have used just a bit more for flavor. The finish is long and lightly bitter. Very nice. Kevin (1918), Colorado, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 1, 2006 Draft...DLD06... This beer rocks!... Clear, orange ale with a small, creamy, white head. Great retention. Both the aroma and flavor deliver heavy grapefruit and pine cone notes. A touch of toffee. Very well-balanced. Full-bodied and creamy with fizzy carbonation. Lengthy, crisp, lightly bitter finish. Grassy at the wee end. Excellent IPA! tjthresh (1780), Greenfield, Indiana, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 1, 2006 On tap at the brewpub on Dark Lord Day 06. The aroma features loads of what I think are Simcoe hops. May those are great. Stick white head atop a darker amber beer. Leaves a bit to be desired in the flavor department. Plenty bitter. Some sweet malts and little hop flavor. This really just seems like a mess up version of Alph King. heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 1, 2006 On tap during 3F’s DL day 2006. This poured dark orange with a slightly khaki colored head. The aroma was grapefruit and caramel with a hint of pine. The taste was pine and grapefruit. nice and bitter like you woudl expect and IPA from 3F’s. There was also some bread crust and peanuts. Overall, a decent IPA, but needs a little more malt balance.
