Great retention. Both the aroma and flavor deliver heavy grapefruit and pine cone notes. A touch of toffee. Very well-balanced. Full-bodied and creamy with fizzy carbonation. Lengthy, crisp, lightly bitter finish. Grassy at the wee end. Excellent IPA! CaptainCougar (5544), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 14, 2006 On tap at DL06: Pours a clear amber bronze with a nice, frothy, well-lacing off-white head. Aroma of fresh piney hops and some sweet and strange character almost reminiscent of bean sprouts. Body starts with a touch of sweetness, lots of bittering piney hops and a touch of grapefruit toward a drier, lightly earthy, but thinner finish. An interesting and very drinkable IPA. Pours a deep brownish read color with a generous white head. The heavy citric hopping darn near slaps you in the face. Medium bodied with complex malt flavors, it’s the hops that really shine through, both citric and herbal in taste. Nice bitter finish. Of course, I brought a growler home with me.

The aroma was grapefruit and caramel with a hint of pine. The taste was pine and grapefruit. nice and bitter like you woudl expect and IPA from 3F’s. There was also some bread crust and peanuts. Overall, a decent IPA, but needs a little more malt balance. BBB63 (4283), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 17, 2004 On tap at the brewery, Rating #1500: Hazy cider look with a neverending off-white head and oustanding lace. The aroma has notes of pine sap, grapefruit, pepper, wheat bread, lemon zest, and earthy and dusty yeast esters. A wonderfully balanced taste of fruity and piney hops covered by sweet pale malts. Grassy and earthy in the midsection. Spiced cake finish with a final kick of fresh hops. The alcohol is well hidden with a sharp initial feel. A bit metallic and chalky upon the finish. A cross between Dreadnaught and Behemoth at a lower gravity. Nice on it’s own and another winner from Three Floyds. Ughsmash (4098), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA

Poured a clear, caramelly-golden with a short cap of white head. Juicy grapefruit and other light fruits pair with sweet caramel and pine in the very pleasant nose. The flavor carried a heavy, yet well-balanced bitter presence (pine, grapefruit, and grass) around the palate and through the finish... sweet caramel and toffee provided a sticky and adequate base. Dried, bitter finish. Very well done! goldtwins (4086), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 10, 2006 Draft @ 3 Floyds DL06: Nothing beats fresh 3F on tap. Amber color with a big off-white head. Huge fresh grapefruit and pine dry hopped aroma. Big grapefruity hop flavor. Plenty of citrus. Is there malt in there? Who cares! (and yes there is some burried but giving balance) Smelled and tasted great. The finish kept the bitterness light. Medium bodied. More please.
