Surprisingly thick with a medium-long finish. Excellent. Malt and fruity (grapefruit and something else) hops blend nicely in the aroma. Also, a small amount of spice appears as it warms. Fruitiness was more pronounced when cold, but as it warmed the caramel malt took control up front yielding to the grapefruit hops towards the end. The finish is citrusy and bitter. My first Three Floyds product, and it was very well done, especially the mouthfeel which is amazingly thick. Guerde (710), Welcome, Minnesota, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 7, 2007 (bottle) Pours a dark copper with a lingering white head, that leaves a nice lacing on the glass, just a great appearance. Aroma is wonderful, very fruity with grapefruit and lychee with some slight floral notes too. As it warms however, a spice-like character develops and complements the fruity aroma. The taste is amazing, very fruity initially, somewhat like an ambrosia salad, with a lot of pineapple in the forefront with lingering hop bitterness that lasts forever. Upon warming caramel is thrown into the mix, and perfectly complements the fruity flavors. The mouthfeel on this beer is great, thick and chewy, by far the thickest APA I’ve ever had. This beer is the perfect example of an APA. pondoshuffles (141), Fitzroy Harbour, Ontario, Canada
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Oct 6, 2007 Damn I like this beer. Sampled at the Map Room in Chicago. Fresh, citrus hops attack the nose luring you into the first blissful sip. Splendid malty backbone over which a blanket of hops has been scattered. Many IPA/APA’s are more bitter. None impress me as much as this. BigMilly8 (376), Holiday, Florida, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 6, 2007 From jcr, 12 oz. bottle, thanks John! Pours a hazy orange amber color with a big beautiful off white rocky head that stays around for awhile. Has really nice spidery lacing along the glass. Nose is citrus hops and some floral hops with hints of mint. Palate is medium with a bitter bite on the end of the tongue but very smooth the rest of the way down. Flavor is hops, with lemon and i keep getting a little hint of chocolate towards the end. Phenominal beer, great bonus beer from jcr.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 5, 2007 Hazy, dark burnt orange body. Large, rocky off-white head with excellent retention. Leaves thick patches of lacing on the glass. The aroma shows a near even split between grapefruit and grassy hop varieties, with a touch of pine resin. A few drops of honey and lemon add complexity to the nose, as does a slight hint of cooling mint. The aroma is very unique and inviting. The flavor has a very light caramel base. Fresh orange juice and hops of seemingly every variety add pleasing contrasts and depth. Honey and cream add smoothing elements. Its not overly hoppy, but well balanced, complex and subtle. Bright, clean finish. Medium bodied and very smooth. Very nice, unique brew. bonbright7 (174), Bellport, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 4, 2007 Bottle/trade. The over the top aroma of hops has an interesting contrast in the underlying malt taste. I liked the great head the beer produced when poured and the flavor flowed with a heavy character to it. jezmez68 (334), Chesterton, Indiana, USA

Pours orange with a nice, citrussy head. Smells of citrus, hops, and pine cones. Heavy mouthfeel for what looks like a hardcore pale ale. Actually so hoppy it gave me acid reflux. I like it, but it doesn’t like me. Goodgrief (1161), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 30, 2007 Nov 2005 - Beer poured with little head, deep brownish red color. The aroma of pine was really noticeable, even just after removing the cap. This beer had a really nice, thick mouthfeel. The taste was overwhelmingly piney hops but with some nice sticky malts in there, too.
