Commercial Description:
Alpha Klaus is Alpha King’s cousin. A big American X-mas Porter brewed with English chocolate malt and Mexican sugar and of course tons of strange American hops! Cheers.

Aroma of sesame seeds at first...pours a dark thick black with a light tan head that quickly fades. Flavor is the roasted chocolate malt, with a nice balance with the hops. Like all of Three Floyds stuff, this is a great beer. Well worth finding - I had to have this shipped from Chicago. Well worth the FedEx price!

Bomber from GF’s dad. Dark brown, almost black color with large tan head. Aroma is a lot of roasted malt, chocolate, slight coffee, very nice. Flavor is coffee, hoppy, roasted malt. Medium to full body that is creamy. Very nice porter, bordering on stout.

22 oz. bottle from tjthresh. Pour is deep brown, almost black. Nice layering, with a three inch khaki head. Aroma of roasted malt, and bright pine hoppiness. Taste is initially quite roasty - bordering on coffee with a great hop bite / bitterness in the finish. Really nice porter, where hops enhance, rather than detract, from the flavor. Thanks fro this one Tom.

Pours a very dark brown in color. There was at least a two inch head sitting atop this beer. Smell is subdued hops and some chocolate malt. Taste is much more of the malt with a little bitterness as well. There is a grassy and pine flavor of course coming from the hops. Pretty decent medium full on the mouthfeel.

Poured from a 22oz bomber and served in an English pint glass. This porter poured an almost solid black with a thin, dark tan head that quickly faded away. Not much lace to speak of. The aroma of the beer was made up of light roasted notes, sweet milk chocolate, light vanilla, and also just a touch of earthy hop notes. The flavor included roasted chocolate malts, vanilla, crisp notes of pine, light sugary caramel, and also some mild citrus. The mouthfeel was creamy and full-bodied with light carbonation. An excellent porter. The hops were not overdone, and the flavor was nicely balanced throughout. A great beer to celebrate the holidays with. Well done!

22oz bottle from crizay. One of my favorite porters. Aroma of sweeter, slightly charred, roasted malt. Just a bit of citrus and pine from the hops. Mint. Liquorice. Anise. Milk chocolate. Demarara sugar rum. Pours nearly pitch black with a very rocky khaki head. Lots of lightly toasted, semi-sweet, creamy malt on the tongue. Vanilla. Liquorice. Grassy and citrus hops. Some chocolate as well. Medium to full bodied. Quite creamy and lush. Finishes with a toasted malt and hoppy dryness.

Bottle. WOW. What a beer! Pours very dark, with garnet color, and one of the thickest, creamiest, longest lasting heads I’ve ever seen. The aroma is intense and complex. Chocolate and spice. Flavor is chocolaty, holiday spice, and very well balanced with hops. What an intense, interesting beer. Palate is firm and creamy, just wonderful. A fantastic beer all around, and I’m so happy to have another bottle waiting for another night. Special beer.

Drinking this on Christmas Eve as I am waiting on the little ones to drift off.... Black as midnight with a caramel head about 2 1/2 inches thick. Beautiful and dark. Very rich looking. Smells very similar to some of the better Imperial Stouts that I’ve had. Dark chocolate and coffee all the way here with a nice piney hop smell lingering in the background. If this was thicker in body, I would swear that this is an Imperial. Extremely tasty porter here. Lots of porters seem to concentrate solely on being smoky but this one has a nice hop presence as well that I really like. To this point, this is the best porter that I have ever had. That being said, I have an Olfabrikken in the fridge that I will be trying in a few days so I should have a reference point there. Simply amazing beer. Looks great, smells great, tastes great... What more can you ask for? Merry Christmas to me, Merry Christmas to me....
