Commercial Description:
Alpha Klaus is Alpha King’s cousin. A big American X-mas Porter brewed with English chocolate malt and Mexican sugar and of course tons of strange American hops! Cheers.

Bottle@Home. Aroma of veggies, herbs, chocolate and coffee. Opaque colour, beige head, good lace. Veggies, coffee and bitterness. Straightforward and a bit off-balance. Not bad, but nothing special.

Bottle, shared @ jbrus’s place. Chocolate, cacao and licorice in the aroma. Spicy flavor (nutmeg, cardemom). Malty sweetish with coffee and ’Koetjesrepen’ (cheap Dutch chocolate for children without cacao). Spicy in the finish.

22oz bottle. Pours the darkest brown known to man with a nice 2 finger beige head that left some spotty lacing. Aromas of toffee, chocolate. Taste was much of the same while the finish was very smooth and bloody delightful! (British accent)

Tasting session at jbrus. Bottled. Opaque black, thick brown head. Very malty nose, chocolate. Highly carbonated, coffee in flavour. Bitter finish. Lacking some complexity imho.

Granted I’m not much of a porter guy, but I expected more from a FFF release. It looks great....like bpitch black tar in the glass, but the aroma and taste is a little off. It is powerful and thick, but I cannot say I really liked the flavor.

Pour was dark brown and black with a mocha head. Aromas of sweet malt, hops and cocoa. medium light body and very smooth. Flavors are lovely with roasty malt, molasses and chocolate. Very easy to drink. Finish is sweet and light hoppy bitterness. One of the better Porters I have had.

From StFun via trade. The pour was dark with ruby on the fringes. A thin tan head formed and created spots of lacing. The aroma was sugary chocolate, roasted malts and some light citrus and floral hops. The flavor was milk chocolate, roasted, smoky malt and some light citrus hops. It sounds like I’m describing more of IS, but it really tasted like a porter with hops on the finish. The mouthfeel was almost full in body, very easy going down.
