Aroma is very sweet with some burnt fruits and of course alcohol. Taste is a bit sticky sweet but not cloying. Easy to drink. Faint hops balance the pear and plums taste and help mellow the lingering alcohol burn. JoeMcPhee (5010), Jackson Heights, New York, USA

Rich sweet pale malts, honey-coated almonds, marzipan, cherry and apricots. Soft earthiness. Very sweet but not cloying. A bit peppery as it warms up. Chewy and sweet but I really like this. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 26, 2008 Bottle. Aroma is pretty sweet and malty considering the amount of alcohol in this. Flavor is minty with spearmint. The flavor goes up the back of the throat. Not too bad considering the size. NobleSquirrel (1115), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 25, 2008 was at the brewpub and figured why not. Though I don’t think it’s that complex, it was interesting. tasted a lot like a belgian strong crossed with a barley wine. very sweet and bubblegum laced with a noticeable alcohol kick, though not superhot. interesting, but probably a one time deal... | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 20, 2008 Clear deep red, minimal head. Flavor is yeast, biscuit malts, caramel malt, and sweet candied sugar. Alcohol has a presence in the flavor, but isn’t as overwhelming as the ABV would suggest. I find that Kong is a proper title for this, because it’s definitely a BIG beer. Medium to full bodied. Once again, Three Floyds comes through with the solid brew. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 20, 2008 Pours a clear reddish-brown with just a little bit of lacing on the rim. Aroma of almond extract, bubble gum, brown sugar. Flavor is a definite fruity bubble gum, almond paste/marzipan and caramel. A sweet syrup but still a bit more balanced than other ales of this character. Well done. BabyJoe692 (109), Pickerington, Ohio, USA
