| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | May 24, 2009 In short: A brutal fruity extra-sweet extra-alcoholised brew with no class
How: Bottle 22oz. Consumed when around 1 year old. Tasting session with Montreal crew. Sent to me by drewbeerme, thanks a lot Andrew.
The look: Cloudy redish-copper body topped by a little off-white ring of foam
In long: A mega sweet nose (soft candies) with alcohol fumes that reach nail polish territory. Taste is fruity sugary-crunchy, like a sweetened breakfast jam mixed in caramel. Alcohol is not well hidden at all. Surprisingly yeasty. Cloying and way too aggressive. Avery make a few less fruity and equally atrocious brews like this. This is a rather expensive and hard to come-by brew, I don’t mind it being expensive, I just wish it was harder to come-by. TaktikMTL (2786), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada
(Rating #2400) Snojerk321 (2027), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 15, 2009 22oz bottle via trade a while back. Pours a cloudy rusty brown with pretty much no head. Tons of sweet caramel and candied fruits on the nose. Flavor was also very sweet with candied apricots, peaches, pears......pretty much every fruit under the sun was poking its head out. Finish was boozy, but not overwhelming. MartinT (5075), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 13, 2009 My Bottom Line:
This monstrous brew’s thick oily mouthfeel carries heavyset caramel and honeyed sweetness upon which torrential alcohol rains, dousing bubblegum phenols in unnecessary heat.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the lightly hzy amber-copper.
-Higher alcohols approach nail polish territory at times.
-This would need to be dried out a lot more for me to consider it more than decent.
-Orange zest notes add some complexity, but are quickly overwhelmed by the caramel.
-All power and few subtleties; if I want this type of drink, I’ll go for rum.
Bottle.
