Aroma of candy sugar, caramel malts, banana, light spices, and pears. Taste of sweet honey, candy sugar, vanilla, light spices, banana, a dirty yeast strain, and some alcohol in the finish. Not sure if this will ever age into a beauty, but sure glad I got to try it! Thanks John! hopdog (5604), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

Poured a deep orange color with a smaller sized white head. Aromas of bananas, sugary, syrupy, citrus, spices, and caramel. Tastes of caramel, sugary, bananas, and citrus. Way too sweet for my tastes. I never would have guessed this puppy was 16%! A minor milestone as this rating has me passing DocLock for #1 rater in PA (I’m sure we’ll be see sawing back and forth!). | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 24, 2007 Poured from a 22oz bomber and served in a tulip. This beer poured a crystal clear, dark copper color with a tight beige head that quickly faded away into a thin layer of tiny bubbles. A bit of light lacing was left behind only to be pulled down by some oily legs. The aroma of the beer was made up of spicy yeast esthers, dark fruits, banana, candy sugar, and also some caramel. The flavor was more of the same with a strong, upfront spiciness followed up by a thick, chewy caramel backbone. Also, a nice warming alcoholic finish that was just right. The alcohol was blended nicely without overpowering any of the other flavors. The mouthfeel was thick, oily and full-bodied with very minimal carbonation. Another very nice brew from Three Floyds. kp (8396), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

huge sweet fruity aroma with lots of growing green apple and a touch of alcohol,
big thick body,
rich fruity flavor, light balancing bitterness but the sweet fruity is the whole story, nice brown sugar sweetness just enforces the fruity character,

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 6, 2007 Updated: Jan 9, 2008on tap at FFF, pours a striking amber olden orange in color with a small off-white head. nose has lots of belgian candy sugar and some light fruits, not much in the nose. flavor is very syrupy, light belgian candy sugar with light fruit pears, apples, and light toffee. alcohol is pretty well hidden. i always like try this beer but i just don’t really enjoy it that much and isn’t much fun to drink.3.6.
22oz bottle 2007 vintage, bottled just weeks ago. pours copper-ruby color with small white head around the rim, it lasted some time but faded away. the nose is really bananay w/ cloves, candy sugar, subtle spice, and some alcohol. the taste is pretty spicy but that just provides a nice kick and isn’t cloying, there’s also dried fruits of prunes and bananas with some bubblegum, cloves, candy sugar, some caramel, and alcohol warmth. this is pretty sweet but it’s not cloying too me and the alcohol didn’t burn at all, actually very well hidden. perhaps there’s too much banana esters for me but this is still an intense drink. the carbonation is realy low and body is tad sticky and syrupy but it isn’t as bad as some beers. actually a pretty nice body on this thing. tasty stuff, i wonder how it’ll age? this is what Avery Beast wishes it could be. a part me isn’t that into this beer and then another part of me demands another sip as i wish i could drink this every couple of months. 6/4/8/4/16=3.8 ogglethorp (889), Ohio, USA
