Pours a nice cloudy bright orange with a one finger offwhite head. The nose is citrusy, grapefruit rind, herbal and earthy hops, sweet and malty, smells like an English/ Northwestern IPA. Flavor is big on earthy/herbal hops, malty, sweet, bready, honey character. Palate is mildly bitter. Tastes more like an IPA than a DIPA. shawnm213 (995), South Bend, Indiana, USA

I liked this. Seems like a lot of people think this is too sweet or has some off flavors. I liked the balance, if anything maybe a little sugary, but some floral and citrusy hop aromas were still able to shine through. sticky mouthfeel. kinda tingles in your mouth a little. Worth trying. a neat beer. Birdiebeagle (815), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA

The head makes good lacing. Has a good citrus aroma of oranges, mangos, and tangerines. Has good carbonation. Very well blended. Has a very slight alcohol burn which is quite enjoyable. The flavors are real good. Has a mild bitterness. Has a thicker texture. The mouthfeel is great. Has a fantastic finish with a great aftertaste. This is a very tasty beer. I will take all I can get of this. Rciesla (3790), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

Pours a bright, hazy golden amber with a large creamy white head that settles in as a small soapy cap and leaves spotty lacing along the sides.
The aroma is more citrus than floral and has lots of lighter citrus fruits with mangos and tangerines coming to mind. The caramel malts come through with a nice sweetness to balance the citrus zest.
The taste starts out with a slightly abrasive bitterness that is definitely citrus, but more on the astringent side of things, for better or worse. There is a solid sweetness from the malt backbone and the lactose sugars to balance things out and the finish has a citrus and grassy hop bitterness.
The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied but sticky from the hop oils and citrus and sits a little heavier on the palate than I was expecting - due in part to the lactose I imagine.
This is a very good DIPA with a solid citrus-forward flavor that stays very balanced with plenty of malts thrown in. I think the lactose twist is a good one and really evens out the 100 IBUs. ucusty (1913), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 17, 2009 Bottle @ Paradiso. Strange caustic hop nose, some husky corn, some milk for sure, comes across similar to rye. Burnt nuts, orange, etc. Flavor is excessively sweet, sugary/crystalline, strange throughout. Chalky, husky, toasted grains, astringent and rough. Too sweet, too syrupy. Messy. bvc (336), Kenmore, Washington, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 16, 2009 22oz bottle from StFun. Pours a hazy deep golden color that is leaning toward amber. Decent white head that settles down a thin head that covers across the glass. Does leave some decent lacing on the way down also. Nose is sweet and resiny. Big citrus hops that has a bready creaminess to it. What a fantastic nose! As it warms up, the citrus mellows and it is more creamy and lacto sweet smelling. Mouth feel is good, not at sharp/prickly that I was expecting and really kind of a creamy smoothness. Normally, I prefer an out of balance IIPA that has crazy hop resin with the malt barely noticeable, but this one really works for me. The citrus hop, the bready malt and the sweet lacto are all so balanced and all very harmonious. Super tasty stuff...thanks Josh for hooking me up!
