Commercial Description:
This complex double India pale ale has an intense citrus and floral hop aroma balanced by a velvety malt body which has been augmented with lactose milk sugar. With this different take on an IPA we have brewed an ale that is both pleasing to drink and, once again, “not normal.” 100 IBU 9.5%ABV

Bottle @ Paradiso. Strange caustic hop nose, some husky corn, some milk for sure, comes across similar to rye. Burnt nuts, orange, etc. Flavor is excessively sweet, sugary/crystalline, strange throughout. Chalky, husky, toasted grains, astringent and rough. Too sweet, too syrupy. Messy.

22oz bottle from StFun. Pours a hazy deep golden color that is leaning toward amber. Decent white head that settles down a thin head that covers across the glass. Does leave some decent lacing on the way down also. Nose is sweet and resiny. Big citrus hops that has a bready creaminess to it. What a fantastic nose! As it warms up, the citrus mellows and it is more creamy and lacto sweet smelling. Mouth feel is good, not at sharp/prickly that I was expecting and really kind of a creamy smoothness. Normally, I prefer an out of balance IIPA that has crazy hop resin with the malt barely noticeable, but this one really works for me. The citrus hop, the bready malt and the sweet lacto are all so balanced and all very harmonious. Super tasty stuff...thanks Josh for hooking me up!

(22oz bottle) Rocky medium off-white head that leaves lovely lacing, atop crystal clear amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, orange/grapefruit, some pine. Taste is moderately sweet, orange, lactose, some grapefruit, pine. Sticky medium-full body.

Best imperial ipa I’ve had - Delicious, well balanced, better than dreadnaught and blackheart. I thought this one might be weird because of the lactose (not that that would have been a bad thing), but the flavor and mouthfeel were pretty straightforward. It was kinda creamy, though.

Source:22 oz bottle courtesy of Steamhead.
Glass:Tripel Karmeliet tulip.
Appearance:Clear orange pour with a one finger white head.
Aroma:Heavy pine and citrus with a lot of alcohol.
Flavor:Hint of caramel and bread, with a very abrasive pine and alcohol finish. Lactose sugars make the body slightly creamy.
Palate:Medium body with mild carbonation.
Overall:I thought that this beer was pretty crappy. The abrasive alcohol finish was a turn-off. The hop aroma and flavor was nice, but not enough to offset the problems.

22 oz bottle courtesy of tjthresh. Pour is hazed golden copper with a one inch white head. Nice lacing left behind. Aroma of resin floral, slight grapefruit citrus. Also some dirtiness, expressed mostly as earthiness. The lactose peaks out as the beer warms. Taste is more of the big resin, much more grapefruit citrus, another shot of resin, bunch more floral. The lactose is apparent late in the flavor, and mixes really interesting with fruit and floral, giving it a sweeter edge. Really big, in your face flavor, though still somewhat smooth and refined. Palate is medium, chewy, full and flavorful. I really liked this beer, thanks Tom.

22oz. bomber, with thanks to tjthresh and theisti. Pours a hazy orange golden with a lasting super creamy off-white head. Aroma is nicely floral, with light citrus, and a definite note of the lactose present as well amongst a hint of a caramel malt background. Flavor is more floral, citrus, and lactose, with a little more caramel mixed in. This one is definitely interesting and unique, thanks again to both Tom and Tim!

Bomber courtesy of StFun – you da man Josh! Pours cloudy medium amber with a one finger beige head that leaves delicate lacing. The nose is sweet caramel, floral hops and rip citrus. The taste is caramel malt, overripe citrus and a big resin finish that lingers on the tongue for quite awhile. Medium creamy mouthfeel. Good IIPA, though a tad bit too sweet upfront. The pine cleans it up nicely. Thanks Josh!
