Three Floyds Apocalypse Cow

22 ounce bottle thanks to pantanap, what a odd label. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head that goes down a bit. The aroma is super sweet caramel, fresh citrus hops, toffee, perfume-like. The flavor is great; sweet orange peel, rich caramel, toffee and light bitterness around the edges. Close to what I’d call a traditional Barley Wine- and very good. Very drinkable as well. Nice.

Bottle from my man Eithcubes. Pours a clear light orange color with no head. Big on the sweetness her with a finish that is bordering on that rubbing alcohol line. Unfortunately those are the first impressions. After focusing a little harder I’m getting a pretty pleasant grassy and floral nose. Faint grapefruit citrus hop flavors mid palate. Preceeded by a big caramel malt body and almost heath bar kind of toffeness. Bordering on the barleywine side of the spectrum and would love a bigger hop presence but I’m not going to kick this out of bed.

My Bottom Line:
This portly Double IPA relies on a titillating citrusy and floral hop signature to enliven its almost thickset honeyed cereals.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam surfs the nearly clear amber.
-This is another wonderful IPA perfume from the guys at Three Floyd’s.
-The finishing resinous hop bitterness is quite pleasant.
-This is not as polished as their Dreadnaught, and perhaps less drinkable as well.
-The prickly carbonation is comfortable on the tongue, helping to alleviate some of the body’s heft.

Bottle courtesy of HOPSHUNTER. Thanks for hunting this one down. Pours deep gold with copper hues and thin white head. The aroma is full of pine hops, a bit of resin and grassiness as well. There’s light notes of sweet sugary malts too. The taste begins with a quick pulse of sweet malts moving into bold pine and resiny hop bitterness where the sweet malts just don’t let go or give up in the face of all those hops. It gets sticky with malts well beneath the onslaught of hoppy resiny goodness. The touch of malts and lactose add very nicely to the big bold pine, grassy, a bit resiny and grapefruit like hop soup. Wow! Terrific IIPA.

22, thanks, BVC! Pours clear gold with a lacy off-white head. Tropical fruit and tangerines in the aroma and taste.

Bottle courtesy of davinci. Poured deep hazy copper. Nose is resiny and standard grapefruit, with something "wet" lurking back there. Kind of like cream of mushroom soup, in a pleasant way. Taste is actually a slight sweet malt to start, followed by an assault of piney hops. As it warms, the lactose makes it’s appearance in the finish as a condensed milk/dulche de leche flavor that is interesting. FInishes slightly boozy. Really interesting take on a DIPA. bottle thanks to bu11zeye. poured gold with a white head and spotted lace. aroma was pine, citrus, and butterscotch. flavor was pine, citrus, hops, and very sweet. light body with low carbonation.

Thanks to Hopshunter for the share. Pours clear amber orange with white head. Nose is pine, citrus, slight floral hops, honey, and sweetness/ lactose. Flavor is pine bite, lactose/ sweetness, with sweet malt up front and behind. Medium bodied and finishes with lingering sweetness. A winner from FFF.
