Commercial Description:
This complex double India pale ale has an intense citrus and floral hop aroma balanced by a velvety malt body which has been augmented with lactose milk sugar. With this different take on an IPA we have brewed an ale that is both pleasing to drink and, once again, “not normal.” 100 IBU 9.5%ABV

Bomber shared with my sister and brother-in-law at Mod Pizza in Chicago. I absolutely love Three Floyds and was very excited to try something new from them. Pours a deep orange color with a very small white head that disappears quickly. It did leave some nice swirls on the top of the brew though. The aroma consists of some subtle citrus fruit, strong hops, and a hint of flowers. The taste was very interesting and unexpected. It consisted of a LOT of fresh hops and some subtle floral notes that left a fairly bitter (but pleasant) aftertaste. I don’t know if my mind was playing tricks on me or if the mouth feel actually was supposed to be the consistency of milk. Finished a bit too bitter for my liking but was overall very good. Another hit by Three Floyds!

Bottle courtesy of cexshun. Poured an orangeish amber with a thin eggshell head. Great nose, notes of caramel, peach, pineapple, and grass. Reminds me of English hops. Full body with a creamy, milky mouth feel. The flavor was sweet caramel and toffee with more fruity notes of peach, pineapple, and apricot. Bitterness is relatively mild throughout the brew. Excellent. Honestly we had a bottle of this and a bottle of Dreadnaught at our last tasting, I think this killed the Dreadnaught.

Bomber shared by customercopy. Thanks JB. Pours an orange-amber with a thin off-white head. The nose is of sweet malt, big citrus and some mild lacto tartness. Slick, medium-bodied and bitter with some tart funk at the finish. This tastes like a lightly oaked (odd) version of the nose. It’s an interesting IIPA, but I found it a tad odd. I’d prefer Dreadnaught any day of the week.

Bomber courtesy dchmela. Pours a clear, fiery, golden-orange hue with a minimal, swirly film for a head. Sugary legging coats the glass, leaving behind wet lace spots. The aroma is weird, showing toffee malts, butterscotch, and evaporated milk, mostly sweet, though hopped with notes of bitter orange and resinous pine. Flavors follow suit, toffee driven and buttery up front, with citrus and pine bitterness on the back end. The big, sugary body is smooth but somewhat alcoholic, finishing with a creamy, lactic sort of feel. Strange brew. Not bad, just strange.

Bottle from Ditmeir. Pours a hazy orange wheat color with a thick head. Huge citrus hop aroma, lots of floral notes. Big malt citrus hop taste with a touch of creamy lacto to smooth thing out. Interesting idea to use lacto to balance out the hops.

Thanks to dchmela for the taste. Odd hoppy brew. Clean citrus and vanilla. Slightly bitter. Creamy. Pretty good brew.

22 oz bottle. Hoppy nose, piney, creamy sweetness as well, with some citrus notes in the aroma. Pours golden blonde with a thin white head. Very hoppy, citrusy with pine resin, with a creamy thick mouthfeel, honey malts with hints of caramel and biscuits, very smooth.

Pours orange, hazy. Nose is WOW! Peaches, apricot, apple, oranges, citrus, sticky pine, sweet toffee and caramel, bubblegum and honey. HUGE mouth feel! Lactose is amazing in IIPA. Flavor is super sweet, boozey, fruit, dank hoppy greatness! Amazing!
