Draft @ DLD 09: I could sum this one up by saying that is was one of the highlights of the brewpub for me. Murky caramel color with a large whitish-tan head. Nose was big on spiced malts, dried banana chips and chocolate. As thick as this stuff looked it didn’t translate over to the body...thankfully. Medium-light body, fairly crisp in the carbonation area. Tasted just like chocolate chip banana bread. ’Nuff said.

On draft in the brewpub at DLD ’09, served in a tulip glass. Alright! A great mix of sweet malt and hefe. Makes a great balanced aroma in this respect. It at the same time smells full of fresh bananas, cloves, bubblegum, swet/sour yeasty breads, and lighter citrus, while also a good amount of caramel nut cookies, and brown malts. Pretty beer per usual 3fs, smooth, small bubbled creamy head, no lacing, a nice ring of retention, and a faded light to dark date purple/brown color. Wonderful balance shows up as well in the flavor. There is more hops (again per usual 3fs) than a normal beer of this style, but also a strong and full, yet creamy smooth feel the whole way. The same spicy banana bready sour notes as the aroma in the flavor profile. Toffee is also big, also big, nutty multigrain breads. A fairly dry finish The citrus and floral hops in this work so well as more hops in 3fs beer just seems to make everything better. Very, very hard to beat for me for the style. A great balanced, hopped-up German style beer. Prost!

Served in a tulip draft at the brewpub (Munster, IN). Pous a dark brown, with black notes, red edges, with medium light brown head and decent lacing. Aromas push some prominent banana esters, a touch of lemon rind, and booziness, preaching some decent roast. Smells strong. Initial is pushes a medium smooth body, a bit boozy warming with light chocolate and dark malts, and banana coming in further into the body. Rich, without overdoing anything, the dark malts come in with cocoa and cream in the finish. I was skeptical of this stronger brew, but it proved it’s good body and flavors without any cloying qualities. Finish preaches chocolate and light banana bread, with some subtle cream, small bitterness. Very good. Cheers!

Source: Tap at DLD.
Glass: Tulip glass.
Appearance: Poured a cloudy dark brown color with a thin tan head.
Aroma: Malty with hints of banana and chocolate.
Flavor: Banana dominated with spices and chocolate in the background.
Palate: Medium body with soft carbonation.
Overall: Surprised that I liked this one as much as I did.

On draft, pours pretty dark brown, hazy. Weizen aroma, more clove than banana. Flavor is pretty cool, has a nice aftertaste of chocolate. Medium to low mouthfeel. Alcohol was 7% abv.

On Tap on DLD 09. Dark brown pour with nice, off white head. Nice aroma of chocolate covered bananas and spice. Kind of an earhty, funky, banana flavor to this one. Absolutely awesome and an absolute pleasure to drink.
