A quest beer that I’ve been searching for since the beginning. Aroma has notes of citrus, almonds, and caramel. Hazy orange amber hue with a large cascading frothy off-white head that mostly diminished and left good lace. Flavor is sweet complex and bitter. Palate is full bodied and oily soft. Top notch barley wine that is so well done it’s hard to find any faults. One of the best BWs that should continue to get better with age. Bravo! WinoInTraining (107), Longmont, Colorado, USA

All I could think when drinking was, "Damn, this tastes like a caramel apple at the fair". Big and rich without being heavy and cloying like so many Barley wines. About as good as it gets! Pine and hops is the first thing I noticed followed by caramel and mandarin oranges.Tastes like Mandarin orange at first then pine and a bitter hops. It has a great sweet and bitter combination. Has a definate alcohol feel to it at 12.5%.Has a dry and bitter finish with very light carbonation.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 19, 2009 22 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with brentfeesh. 2007 bottle. Pours a hazy golden amber with a thin off-white head that faded to a ring after two sips and left partial lace. Very pleasant aroma of caramel, oranges and alcohol. The flavor is caramel up front followed by some strong, almost prickly hops bitterness, which continues well beyond the swallow. There is noticeable flavor and heat from the alcohol as well, with the heat also lingering beyond the swallow. Not at all smooth. Full bodied. There are elements of this beer that I enjoyed, but overall, there are other barley wines I would reach for first. KAggie97 (2479), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA

Pours a thick cheddar orange with an aroma of strawberry kolache and sugar bread. Flavor is leafy, pond scum hops with weird fruit swirls. Thick mouthfeel. Eh, it’s okay.
