Sweet tea, light caramel, spruce and odd herbal. Basil? Full-bodied with a buttery richness. Like with the Gumballhead i get strong notes of Red Rose tea. Spiced apple, pine needles and butterscotch round things out. Unique and oddly alluring. POD (198), USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 16, 2007 Found a 2007 bomber at Whole Foods in Columbus, OH. Strong sweet cirus aroma. Creamy tan head that disipates quickly. Nice lacing rings circled my large glass dimpled mug every 2 inches or so. Three Floyds really knows how to incorporate an almagamation of robust, full-bodied, complex flavors into it’s brews. Various floral and citusy hopness swirls through this brew all the way to the end. 12% ABV is well disguised and will nail you before your finished. The finish is sweet carmel that lingers and finishes with a mellow bitter citrus. I really loved this ale. If it didn’t cost so much, I would drink it all of the time. michael-pollack (2686), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 15, 2007 22oz. Bottle: Aroma is sweet and vinous. Smells of caramel malts and resiny hops. Also a hint of alcohol in the nose. Poured deep amber in color with a small tan head that diminished quickly. Very cloudy. Small lacing. Lightly sweet, heavily bitter flavor. Tastes of caramel malts, pine, resin, a little citrus, and hops. Medium to full body. Oily texture. Soft carbonation. Long, dry, bitter finish. Overall, I probably should have let it age a little longer, but it was still pretty damn good. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA

No way, and that was 3 years ago. A good BW, yes. But for the price and just as good give me Hog Heaven. WeeHeavySD (2980), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA

Many many many thanks. Drinking it for a much needed break, christening my new riedel oversized snifter. The pour is deep amber orangish brown. with a stable puffy tan head. The nose is big with dried fruit, sugar, molasses and alcoholic notes. The aroma is big and portends something just as large. Wow thats a big taste, rich filling, sweet and lots of alcohol that hits the back of the throat with a nice warming sensation. This is a big beer with lots of character i’ll see how it goes as it warms up. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 5, 2007 Bottled. WOW! Orange brown in colour with a small head. Very well balanced with notes of candied sugar, orange, pine, fruit, dark fruit, nuts, and flowers. The list could go on - very complex. YUM! bitbucket (2034), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 2, 2007 Bomber courtesy after4ever. Thanks Tom! The first and hopefully only bottle I’ll see with a wax cap that appears to have cellulite. Maybe the ’06 vintage? Lightly hazy mahogany pour with a thin yellow head. Sweet aroma of brown sugar are nuts. Full body and moderate carbonation. Taste of fruitcake, fruit, brown sugar, oranges. Manages to get to a fairly clean Cointreau-edged finish. after4ever (2766), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 2, 2007 hanks, GoldTwins! Pink wax (not sure what vintage that makes this--though Larry was nice enough to tell me, I’ve forgotten). God, this is an insanely aggressive-smelling beer. Pours deep murky brown with coppery highlights and a thinnish, moussy banana-yellow head. Humongous sticky sweet nose with maple syrup, tons of malty brown sugar, dark fruit, cherry, heavy black bread, and other stuff I’m sure I could strain out if I really tried. But as it stands there are so many notes and they’re all so strong that I’m having trouble with that. Attack is thick and oily with very low carb; flavors all over the place. Molasses, caramel, biscuit, wet leaves--this is heavy stuff. Delicious. Thanks, Larry!
