Dec 27, 2007 Bottle from West Lakeview Liquors, Chicago. Dark brown color with medium brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, farely sweet, chocolate, and a slight smoke. Flavor is chocolate and roasted malt, pretty sweet, plum, not bad though. Medium body and slightly creamy. Okay.

Dec 26, 2007 Poured the expected near black with some lighter hints at brown and ruby. Brown head produced more foam than I anticipated and after it receded it managed to provide tiny spots of lace. The aroma was roasty malt, light campfire even with some chocolate and the definite presence of hops. The flavor followed suit, with mild cedar, smoke, roasted malt and chocolate all coming together fairly well. Lots of tight carbonation initally, so decanting this one for half an hour to an hour only helps it escape from what could have been a fizzy mess.

Dec 24, 2007 22 oz bottle. A well put together stout. Nice aroma. This beer has nice touches of chocolate, licorice, and a little bit of coffee. It has a nice little smoky flavor to it. I thought I remember the beer having a little bit of a hop character the first time I tried it...maybe it doesn’t have it as much now or I might have had a little bit of an older bottle. I kind of like that a 22oz bomber is only a 5.25% beer instead of a 10%+ it seems like a lot of them are.

Dec 19, 2007 Did not know about the low percentage. Lots of nice flavors and complexity for a low abv brew. Some light chocolate, coffee and sweetness. Taste a bit creamy with a faint roastiness.

Dec 18, 2007 22oz bottle. Really nice stout - light brown head, quickly dissipating. No lacing on the glass to speak of. Reminds me a bit of a milk stout, definitely tangy. Chocolate, coffee, malty, smoke. One of my favorite 3F offerings

Nov 25, 2007 Rich aroma of cocoa, fudge, walnut, and maple syrup. Black pour with a medium brown head. Harmonious taste of chocolate and licorice. The licorice lingers on the palate with a subtle introduction of smoke. Medium body, yet sufficiently flavorful. Not very hoppy. This a special brew!

Nov 18, 2007 For having on 5% abv, this beer has plenty of taste. So many flavors swirling around in here. It was very dark and complex, more like an imperial stout. Hopped fairly well too.

Nov 5, 2007 I really liked this beer, I’m surprised it’s not ranked higher. Pours black with virtually no head. Mouthfeel is great, hops up front with smooth finish. Almost like a smoked porter/stout. My only complaint is I would like to have it a little more full bodied but the flavor is about right for 5.25%.
