Relatively thick pour (but not as thick as Bell’s stouts). Color was opaque black. Head was foamy with stippled milk chocolate and oatmeal colors. It reduced rapidly to a lasting cap and left only scant lace behind. Attractive marriage of roasty/chocolatey malt and flowery hop aromas. Slightly sweet on the tongue with flowery hop flavor throughout. The hops are joined by malty chocolate, some blackened toast, and toffee. Finished with subdued roasty bitterness that lingered lovingly with flowery hops. Good stout. imanerd (37), Novi, Michigan, USA

Smells of roasted malts and some resiny hops. Poured dark black with a big brown head. Good lacing. Opaque. Flavor is a little sweet and a little bitter. Starts quite malty, but then becomes hoppy and a little bitter, before ending with a nice balance of hops and roasted malts. Light to medium body. Watery texture. Soft carbonation. Long, roasted, malty, slightly bitter finish. Very well balanced. presario (2987), Calgary, Alberta, Canada

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 21, 2007 This is a solid dry stout...but I honesty expect a little better from Three Floyds. This beer has tons of bitter hops and malt present, and if you close your eyes and smell the aromas, it smells like an IPA...HOWEVER, I believe that their signiature hop presence and taste was neglected a little....this dry stout needed a better hop backbone to fulfill my taste...but definitely a great stout nonetheless. Dark, creamy, satisfying. pivo (2537), Germany
