From Bottle. Cola-like pour, dark, dark and more dark. Brown, frothy head. Cola like look, I could see the carbonation bubbles. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and fruit. Flavor of roasted coffee, chocolate in the middle, and nice fruity, and hop flavors in the finish. Fruity flavors and hop flavors more present as it warms. No bitterness. Full bodied.

(22 oz bottle via trade with <!-- A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=2 target=blank -->kramer17801<!-- /A -->, thanks Jason!) Pours a very, very dark garnet-tinged brown with about 1 1/2" of tan head. Aroma is very strong raw hops with more bitter coffee and some chocolate fighting through as head recedes. Weepy rings of lace. Mouthfeel fairly smooth, a bit oily, a tad thinnish. Flavor is rich strong bitter coffee with some chocolate as well. Has quite a grassy finish along with the hops that were strong in the nose. A little messy, was kind of expecting better.

Thanks to Ohio dad for this. Pours ebony with 1-finger brown head. The aroma is huge piney hops, roasty dark patent malt, chocoff, and some spices. The aroma reminds me a lot of the Alpha Klaus aroma. The taste is roasty malty up front, with big piney hops, jalapeno oils, and chocoff at mid-palate. The dryness takes hold as it warms, giving an increase to the java and piney spice elements. The palate is on the dense side, very complex, and very smooth. It was all I could do not to chug a pint of this with y cold cuts and swiss cheese. Another world class beer from Floydx3. If I see a case of this, I will buy a case of this. It’s as simple as that.

I was thinking about this as I logged in. I was going to say something along the lines of "Dry and surprisingly light-bodied." but the commercial desciption beat me to it. Lots and lots of floral/herbal hops on the nose. Good beer, but I would have prefered a wee bit more malt and viscosity.

(22oz. bottle) Pours a oily opaque black body with an average creamy light brown head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, grapefruit, and vanilla. Nice balance of roasted malt and hops in the flavor.

Bottle sampled with Beerded_one. Pours dark with a thick tan head. Beautiful aroma of floral hops, roasted malts, citrus, and sweetness. Flavor is smooth, slight hop bitterness, citrus, roast. A little weak for a stout, but it has a nice dry finish.
