Commercial Description:
Dry and surprisingly light-bodied. Malty sweetness and caramel flavors shift to distinctive dry-roasted malt notes.

Pours black with a medium tan head that fades. Aroma is of rounded roast, sweet chocolate, mild coffee, toasty biscuity malt with light fruity, citrusy, mildly herbal hops standing up admirably to the rich malt fumes. Flavor is of a nice blend of roast, bitter coffee, sweet chocolate, fruity slighly herbal hops. It has some fleeting sweet moments but is solidly bitter overall. Body is medium, palate is a slight slight bit oily, and finishes a slight bit watery. Great beer overall, only small nitpicks would be the a bit to much bitter roast/coffee and a slight watering down of the palate and flavor in the finish. I love burping up hops and roast in the same belch its excellently confusing.

Pitch dark black, like tar beneath an average off white head. Coffee, licorice, and some dark fruits is what I get when I put my schnozzle towards the rim. A little light in flavor, but then again it’s hard to expect more from a dry stout. One of the best I’ve tasted in this style. This kicks the crap out of Guinness and Murphy’s.

Bottle. Fruity, sweet, rich, hoppy aroma; somewhat like fruit loops with hops. Almost opaque body; some red hues on the edges. Tan head; excellent lace. Tastes pretty much like it smells. A little chalky. Milky, somewhat creamy, lactose. Somewhat dry. Good hop profile. Needs more alcohol. Maybe a shot of everclear.

Thanks to CaptainCougar for getting this one for me. A creamy black head tops this black bodied brew. Coffee and chocolate dominate the aroma. Hops remain in the background with a strong presence, but the roast malts play the loud notes here. Smooth and creamy with a long bitter finish.

Strong orange-citrus, resiny pine hops in the nose are joined by plenty of chocolate and roasty character. Opaque black body is topped by a shy tan head that recedes rapidly to ring. Thick malty caramel and chocolate up front are joined quickly by the juicy citrus hops, leading through to a crescendo of roasty bitterness. Rich medium body with lively effervescence. A symphony of flavours with the signature full hopping one would expect from Three Floyds. Bottle enjoyed with beerbuzzmontreal, cathschlag, MartinT, Rastacouere, Olivier_MTL, Siroy and Yowie.

Pour was a dark brown (almost black) with a small brown head. Aroma was hoppy, with some roasted malt and coffee making their way through. Flavor was sweet malts, coffee, and licorice. The finish was a bitter dry hoppiness.

22oz. bottle. Opaque brown-black with a small dark tan head. Cocoa powder, muted roastiness, and tinges of herbal hops in the aroma. Caramel and mild chocolate flavors with a slight hoppy undertone. Finish is coffeebean astringency and roasty bitterness. Mouthfeel is a full medium, rather dry.
