Strong orange-citrus, resiny pine hops in the nose are joined by plenty of chocolate and roasty character. Opaque black body is topped by a shy tan head that recedes rapidly to ring. Thick malty caramel and chocolate up front are joined quickly by the juicy citrus hops, leading through to a crescendo of roasty bitterness. Rich medium body with lively effervescence. A symphony of flavours with the signature full hopping one would expect from Three Floyds. Bottle enjoyed with beerbuzzmontreal, cathschlag, MartinT, Rastacouere, Olivier_MTL, Siroy and Yowie.

Pour was a dark brown (almost black) with a small brown head. Aroma was hoppy, with some roasted malt and coffee making their way through. Flavor was sweet malts, coffee, and licorice. The finish was a bitter dry hoppiness.

22oz. bottle. Opaque brown-black with a small dark tan head. Cocoa powder, muted roastiness, and tinges of herbal hops in the aroma. Caramel and mild chocolate flavors with a slight hoppy undertone. Finish is coffeebean astringency and roasty bitterness. Mouthfeel is a full medium, rather dry.

Bottle. Poured a black color with a frothy tan head that mostly lasted. Roasty aroma with chocolate and some light hops. The flavor found coffee, chocolate, and roasted malts. I found a slight bitterness to it. Excellent! Thanks to Springslicker for sharing this at the Tennessee Tasting!

Bottle. Pours black with tan head. It has a smooth mocha aroma with some lactose notes. The flavor is cold coffee with some bitter chocolate and just a bit of hops in the finish. Yum.

Black, as one might expect. Really nice coffee aroma, with some hints of dark chocolate. Huge coffee flavor, too. Nice hoppy finish, extremely quaffable. Thanks to Springslicker for sharing!

Bomber. Jet black with a thick, creamy brown head. Nose has the typical 3F hops, plus a deep, roasty malt and coffee aroma. Some chocolatey notes as it warms. Body is really interesting - light, but full. I don’t even know if that makes sense, but it fits. Flavors of sweet malt, caramel/toffee and coffee prevade, with some cocoa and burnt flavors underneath. Finish is dry and bitter. Really complex, really pleasant!

Another fine stout from Three Floyds. While not up to the standards of Dark Lord, this is nonetheless impressive. Jet black body capped off by a small, frothy brown head. Bitter-sweet chocolate and coffee first hit the nose joined by (oh, what a surprise!) hops. The aroma and flavor hold notes of brown sugar and malt. Full bodied, gentle carbonation but more than I like in a stout, good mouthfeel. A very enjoyable drink. Especially with the brewpubs chocolate dessert.
