tronraner’s Xmas Eve Eve Eve Tasting. Sample from a bottle thanks to nearbeer. Pale yellow color, toffee and caramel malt aroma. Very herbal spicy hop character. Taste manages to stay very English, toffee and caramel malts with a strong herbal hoppiness.

Bomber courtesy of trade with General Gao. Shared at Christmas Eve cubed. Clear orange-gold with a lasting head and nice lace. Aroma of orange-caramel blend with a touch of oak. Taste is caramel and citrus with a finish of peppery oak and light alcohol. Near-medium bodied, hop-tingly and dry.

I thought this was an odd beer. Lots of caramel sweetness and lots of English style hoppiness, with hardly any middle ground. Its kind of like that joke about standing with one foot in a fire and another in a block of ice, so you average out to comfortable. regardess, I enjoyed this and would definately srink again. Thanks to nearbeer at the Maryville tasting

Bomber shared by Nearbeer at Joe’s Christmas Eve Eve Eve tasting. I have long wanted to try this one. It pours a cloudy amber with a tall white head. I am really expecting a blast of Cascade hops when I pour this. I know it says English IPA, but when the hell does a style matter to Three Floyds hopping the everliving crap out of beer? Well, much to my surprise there is no PNW citrus or herbal zest going on in the nose. It is certainly English. Wood, perhaps pineapple, cheese. . .this is bitter smelling and clean without heavy citrus notes. The flavor is more of the same. Hints of cheese, wood, a very bitter and long lasting finish. This is an excellent display of English hops and an excellent display of why I prefer PNW hops. However, I did enjoy this one quite well, though I will still reach for an Alpha King over this. By the way, this is an IPA. This is definitely an IPA.

Deep golden color, slightly cloudy, thin white head. No aroma. Big spice, mostly oak I suppose. This batch had apparently been stored for a while, so the hopiness had left.

22oz bottle from StFun. Thanks, Josh. Lovely, soft, and creamy head emerges atop this deep orange pour. The carbonation is crisp and fairly active. The nose is more yeasty than one might expect from a conventional DIPA, and this certainly gives this one a more subdued, floral quality than you often get from FFF and its aggressive facewreckers. What I was not expecting was the relative prominence of the oak. I say relative, because this is really not too aggressive, and the result is almost like a subtle Burton Baton. Pretty good.

Pours a hazy pale amber with minimal head. Bouquet of buttered toast. ,marshmallow, vanilla, and caramel. The nose also displays citrus and a piney dry hoppy note. The flavor is of toffee, toasted oak, chocolate, and butterscotch, with a hint of grapefruit. The barrel stands out. Very good!

22 oz bottle. Just hazy pale orange with a puffy white head. Wonderful fruity nose of tangerine, melon and pineapple. Medium body with a light tingle; almost syrupy. Taste is spicy caramel and orange juice with a juniper bite but still smooth. Hints of carrot juice and tea. Primarily sweet with just enough hops to tone it down. Surprised to see this is an EPA and not a DIPA.
