The Dan Journal #235. Tasted 8/26/08. 22oz bomber. Hazy with a golden hue. Ring of head. Orange and citrus aromas with berry esters. Full bodied with a big palate. Lotta citrus and a dry earthy finish. Earthy and tart hop flavors. Big style! Right on!

bottle courtesy of Cartdan. Pours hazy amber, white head Aroma is hoppy, grainy.. Taste grainy, light caramel malts, hoppy, lightly bitter and notes of fruits. abv warms up and give the beer a light bourbon like mouthfeel. A well balanced beer, a little on the hop side. re-rate update 7-10-2009

22oz bottle. Poured a hazy medium orange color. The head was short, off white, and reduced after a minute or so to a thin film. Smelled of caramel, pineapple, and orange. Medium bodied and delicately sweet with moderate hop bitteness that peaked up front, but lingered long. Fruit dominated the flavor in the middle and included the likes of aprcot, pineapple, and orange jam. Almost like fruit juice. Toffee and toasted bread filled the malt bill and supported the hops and fruit cornucopia fairly well. At 9% ABV there wasn’t an overwhelming alcohol presence in either the nose or flavor. I could definitely feel it, though. Nice, well rounded beer, but a bit too much malt backbone for me.

22. Thanks, Yem! This one was the first unanimous big hit around the table--every single one of us flipped a bit. Hazy dark amber. Light fizzy white film for a head. Nice orange marmalade nose. Rich, slightly fizzy body on the medium-ish side (a little lighter than medium). Orange, blood orange, and pineapple on the mid-palate. Long lightly bitter finish. This is the classic marmalade on toast english ipa. And it’s from Indiana. W00t!

Bottle from StFun trade. This one didn’t hit extremes for me, but it was an excellent, balanced example of an IPA. Very smooth and drinkable with noticeable hoppiness. Great beer.

22 oz bottle aqiured in trade from StFun. Poured a copper color and had many of the typical traits of an IPA. Bitter hoppy flavor with a bit of a malt backbone. Smooth and nice on the palate. Great beer.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma of hops, resin, pine, caramel, pine, and some toasting. Poured amber in color with w medium-sized, dense, creamy, off-white head that lasted throughout. Hazy. Slightly sparkling. Excellent lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and light to medium bitter. Tastes of hops, pine, caramel, citrus, malts, and a little fruit. Medium body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter hop and caramel finish. 9%ABV is well hidden.
