| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 25, 2009 I just love getting my tongue around a new release from 3F, and this here really is new, and very exciting! A wild cartoon drunkard on the label. Amber pour. Lacing hangs off the top of the glass like curtains off a rod. Wonderfully complex aroma - tangy, sweet, and floral, with a whiff of smoke - superb. The flavor is - wow! - exactly as advertised. Blackheart is a cross between an earthy English bitter and a sweet American imperial IPA. All English ingredients with noticeably English hops, but brewed in the midwest USA with an American extreme beer attitude. In its uncompromising use of all out hops and malty sweetness, it reminds me of some of Dogfish Head’s better releases. There is a yeasty, English hop aftertaste that is characteristic of many Britlish beers. Blackheart is the best blend of English bitter and American IPA that I’ve ever had - never mind that it is the only one I’ve ever had. Underrated i.m.o. This is a great beer! | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Sep 22, 2009 Absolutely delicious. Not a hop bomb which I’ve come to resent a bit these days. The key word to this beer is lush. Mouthwatering and lush, I could easily drink this beer all day. Easily the best example I’ve seen of a British style Pale in the states. Well done and salud! beernbourbon (313), chicago, Illinois, USA

Aroma is heavy on orange, light malt, light black pepper, hint of alcohol, and mild pine hop. Flavor is citrusy hops, especially orange. A little peach in there too. Also a nice malty backbone and a light pepper/ alcohol bite in the finish. A little sweet, a little hoppy. Solid. LooseCannon (936), Norfolk, Virginia, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Sep 12, 2009 bomber. coppery brown color with a short top made of fat fluffy bubbles. earthy hop aroma also displays some classic fff citrus notes. less candied fruit and more long slow bite. delicious. balance like this is rarely attained. the hops are there from start to finish and they linger for a long time after your sip. the malt manages to never let the hops take over, and the result is a harmonious blend of the two. very easy to drink and the 9% is only noticeable by the time your glass is empty. mar (1940), Dallas, Texas, USA
