#236 for this beer, 22oz bottle picked up in WI on vacation. Glowing orange color with a decent white head, very clingy with good lacing. Smell more of the malt than hops, floral, light hops. Earthy, malty, with a hop bite in the finish, very smooth. (974)

Lovely in the glass after the pour, a slightly hazy amber base with an off-white pillow of a head. The nose is a bit musty and spicy. A sip reveals a depth of flavors, with rich malts. While the creamy brew washes over my tongue, the caramel malt gives way to the woody finish, all enhanced by the lingering spicy hops. This beer needs to be savored, as it only gets better as it warms. Not sure that NWI realizes how lucky we are to have Three Floyds, but I do.

Light orange with medium head. Malty with a nice bitter taste. Not over the top hops or at least balanced with a nice sweetness. A nice option to Dreadnaught.

July 2008: 3F Blackhear English Style IPA pours out in a clear golden stream and has a thin off-white head that forms after the initial pour. The aroma is hoppy with plenty of leafy hops and a slight wet oak quality. The flavor is also quite hoppy with lots of fresh pine followed by a moderately sweet toffee maltiness and then more pine sap! This beer has a medium-light body and is smoth and mouch more balanced that the 3F X was.

650 ML bottle () from West Side Liquor in West Harrison, Indiana. Rating #231 for this beer.
