Crosling (1660), Loveland, Colorado, USA Jul 4, 2008 Light gold color with a bounitful head of foam. Great hop nose, pure 3 Floyds. Minty, super juicy and citrusy, also a little herbaceous as well. Flavor has a ton of character and is nearly perfect. Incredibly well balanced. Super hoppy and bitter, with a lot of juicy citrus character, a lush malt character of caramel and sugared fruits, and then on top of all that, it has well intergrated oak hints of vanilla and toasted wood. A surprise. What a well crafted brew.
Taverner (481), San Ramon, California, USA Oct 10, 2008 Updated: Oct 11, 2008Bottle from tjthresh - Thanks! Pours golden with a small amount of head. Initial aroma is fruity with some light pine notes in there. The malt in this one is delicious - full on caramel and sesame flavors. The hops give some floral characteristics, but the malt and hops really balance each other in this one. Notes of leather and oak - the tannins really work here. The aftertaste, and lingering aroma on this one is beautiful. riversideAK (1648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Oct 9, 2008 Bottle from BeerBunker. Thanks man! This beer had a fantastic complex aroma of English malts, caramel, spicy, peppery hops, earth, and oak. It poured a murky orange/amber color with a decent lasting head and sticky lacing. Flavors of English malts, fruity sweet notes, caramel, wood, earth, oak, pepper, spice, and more oak. Alcohol was almost not there and the finish was an extremely dry mixture of oak and peppery hops. This was a delicious beer. Aubrey (2614), Denver, Colorado, USA Oct 7, 2008 Hazy and rusty orange with a big, froth-filled head that lasted. Inviting orange-cake nose. Very spicy beer. Earthy, wholesome, English-slanted malts had notes of sweet bread, caramel, pumpkin pie, toffee ... along with some curious aromas that made me think of allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg. Bitterness was a bit mild, IMO, but it was there. Possibly even a faint element of earthy smoke or wood. Overall, I thought it was good, but it had some odd things going on that threw me off. Interesting, nonetheless. glkaiser (999), Seattle, Washington, USA Oct 1, 2008 Thanks, bri. Hazy orangish amber with solid head. Really nice mix of bitter hops, smooth malt and more oak presence than I expected. I really love this; not too sweet or syrupy, and the hops really pop out. Drinks very smoothly. Lovely. beerbill (1316), Laurel, New York, USA Sep 27, 2008 22 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with yem25. Pours a hazy orange gold with a moderate yellow/white head that lasted through three-quarters of the glass and left very nice window pane lace all the way to the bottom of the glass. Very pleasant aroma of sweet malt, grapefruit, orange and pine. The flavor begins with a hearty dose of sweet malt, followed by some very resinous pine and juicy grapefruit. Bitter at the finish but definitely not overdone. Very tasty and thoroughly enjoyable!
