On tap at Three Floyds last night. Pint glass. This was a very nice surprise! Cloudy, dark gold appearance, nice white head, wonderful smoked meat aroma that doesn’t overwhelm. Nice balance of sweet and spicy. Refreshing. Very drinkable, very enjoyable. Well done!

Draft at Three Floyds. Pours a deceptive clear gold, looking exactly like a standard Maibock with white head. The nose is all ham and bacon, then some nice bready notes and clean. On taste, this one tastes the cleanest and tastes the most like ham out of any beer I’ve ever had. Tons of sweet and salty notes, as well as the obvious smoke notes. I’m glad that FFF does their own smoking, because they clearly know what they’re doing. My favorite smoked beer. Fantastic.

I like smoked beers and to see my favorite brewpub come out with one well i had to try,it poured a nice yellowish color with a thick foamy head, the smoked smell and taste hit you right off the bat with a campfire like feeling to it.It was a cross between bacon and beef jerky but was smooth in the finish, very enjoyable and another fine effort from FFF.CHEERS!!

On tap @ Map Room. Last time they had a new FFF beer I waited a day and missed it. Pours gold with a white head. Aroma of a smoked beer, ham, bacon. Interesting because you normally don’t get this kind of aroma in a light beer. Good smoked flavor, but a little bit of a bitter finish. I liked it, smoked beers are quickly becoming one of my favorites.

On tap at 3F. Pours a clear orange with a white head. Aroma has a slight smoky presence that is enjoyable toasted malts with a slight soapiness. Roasted slightly smoky and meaty flavors. The light sweetness balances with the meat/bacon flavors and toasted malts. Enjoyable beer.

On tap at the brewpub: This had a slightly hazy golden body with a frothy head that left lots of thick lace in its wake. The aroma did have an underlying malty sweetness, but was mainly pork sausages and greasy bacon. The malts provided enough sweetness in the flavor to balance out the sturdy bacon and Virginia ham smokiness. Nice, and went well with the pretzels, sausages, and spicey mustard that I was eating. But then, I enjoy good smoked beers, so this would have paired well with water cress sandwiches and orange Pez.
