Commercial Description:
Ireland's first and last Ard Ri (high king) of the whole Gaelic race, Brian Boru was born in Munster Ireland around 940. His mother was killed by Vikings when he was a child. He spent his life uniting the Irish tribes to become the first king of Ireland, only to be killed at Clontarf on Good Friday, 1014 putting down a rebellion by the King of the province of Leinster. Brian Boru Irish Brand Red Ale is a very rich caramelly ale with toffee, citrus, and pineapple aroma. Brian Boru is brewed with several malts and Amarillo hops. Slainte!

[241-20070328] Tap @ Cole’s (Buffalo, NY). Hoppy aroma of citrus pine and resin, exactly like smelling a lemon spruce tree. Slightly hazy, amber body with a medium-lasting off-white head. Very piney hops in flavour, a little bitter. Medium body has sweet roundness. Nicely blended, glad it avoids harsh hoppiness.(8/4/8/4/17) 4.1

[1289B-20080411] 1pt6floz bottle. Pine sap evergreen spruce hops aroma. Slightly hazy, dark red brown body with a medium-lasting creamy light tan head. Mild malty brownness flavour with soft earthy grains but mainly pine hops. Medium body is flat and smooth. Seems aged and under-carbonated with a mild sour note. (7/3/8/3/16) 3.7

Draft @ Coles in Buffalo. Dark amber red-brown body with a smallish white head. Hoppy aroma is much more hoppy than I would have expected, though perhaps I should have considering who made it. Citrus, lemon is prominent over light malt notes. Flavour is similarly hop forward, with lemon as the dominant flavour with light earthy malt and caramel as the secondary layer. Average palate. This is only nominally an irish ale but it is quite nice, and probably benefits from the differentiation. Lovely.

Awesome irish red ale, aroma of citrus hops and roasted malts. Dark amber pour with thin tan head. Pineapple and citrus dominate flavor with heavy hop profile balanced with raosted malts to perfection. Makes me dance the irish jig!!!!!!!!

Similar, better than bear republic red rocket ale. These red ales use pineapple, red grapefruit and some other items (specific hops?) that I can’t pinpoint to create a distinctive citrus flaor that is a nice change of pace. Dry and fruity. Good and way over priced, a formula that apparently works well for 3f.

22 oz. Bottle.. poured nicely with a ruby copper clarity that gets you excited. creamy, small frothy head. nice lacing. Starts malty and bready with slight sweet toffee and and brown sugar. Has a nice soft floral/citrus balance. way light in body for the flavor. was hoping for a little "bigger beer" enjoyed...

Figured this was the right thing to get me started on St. Patrick’s Day. 22oz bomber from River City Cellars, Richmond. The aroma on this ruby-red beauty is huge and malt-tastic. It tastes nearly as good, with massive amounts of caramel and a modest hop balance. After a while, the aftertaste gets a slightly sour note in it, rendering the beer a touch inconsistent. But it’s a super solid drink.

22 oz bomber on St. Patrick’s Day eve to get me in the mood for tomorrow. Another great beer by 3Fs, poured a beautiful dark reddish amber with a large off white head in a Duvel tulip. Aroma was malty with a hops citrus hint. Flavor kept on coming through the whole bottle and I was disappointed I only bought one. It might be the Irish in me speaking but this is a damn fine beer.

On tap @ the underbar. I guess its irish looking but I don’t realy like the label too much. I also don’t like the beer that much, but it is better than I remember it. Maybe the label will grow on me too. Malty hoppy citrus aroma, this is pretty nice actually, some depth to it. Flavor is just a weak attempt at that though. Some malt, citrus hops, carmel, nothing too spectacular, but its not their fault, its the style. Damn irish!
