Commercial Description:
Ireland's first and last Ard Ri (high king) of the whole Gaelic race, Brian Boru was born in Munster Ireland around 940. His mother was killed by Vikings when he was a child. He spent his life uniting the Irish tribes to become the first king of Ireland, only to be killed at Clontarf on Good Friday, 1014 putting down a rebellion by the King of the province of Leinster. Brian Boru Irish Brand Red Ale is a very rich caramelly ale with toffee, citrus, and pineapple aroma. Brian Boru is brewed with several malts and Amarillo hops. Slainte!

Lots of citrus sweetness in this one, like dried apricots with a big ol dose of hops. Pours nice with a clear red color and a very stable off-white head. Smooth all around brew.

Bottle. Pours deep, rich, and thick and full of amber. Nice frothy head gives way to an intricate webwork of lacing. Vibrant hoppy aroma. Flavor is an immediate rush of floral hops, with a slight roasted malt finish. Not much roasted malt, but a touch. Leaves a bitter taste on the tongue that doesn’t offend whatsoever. A great beer; I’ll get more next time I’m in Lake In The Hills, IL.

Bottle. Poured a deep color reminiscent of cherry wood with a moderate tan head that would leave some lacing. Characteristic 3F hops in the aroma which also had a woodiness to it. Slightly bitter upfront with a rich malt body and a creamy mouthfeel. Pretty darn good!

(06.08.05) One pint, 6 oz brown bottle from DiCarlo’s, Mundelein, IL. Clear read amber with small white head. Average carbonation. Sweet malt/hop aroma. Medium bodied ale that starts with light malt sweetness and caramel/spicy/fruity/hoppy flavors. finished dry with light malt fade and light hop bitterness. Well-balanced and smooth. With a flavor reminiscent of a barleywine but without the high gravity, this is an awesome beer.

Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours a deep red color with a light tan head. Aroma of hops, citrus, and sweetness. Flavor is citrus, roast, and bitterness in the finish. Drinkable, but three floyds hops can be killer at times.
