Commercial Description:
Ireland's first and last Ard Ri (high king) of the whole Gaelic race, Brian Boru was born in Munster Ireland around 940. His mother was killed by Vikings when he was a child. He spent his life uniting the Irish tribes to become the first king of Ireland, only to be killed at Clontarf on Good Friday, 1014 putting down a rebellion by the King of the province of Leinster. Brian Boru Irish Brand Red Ale is a very rich caramelly ale with toffee, citrus, and pineapple aroma. Brian Boru is brewed with several malts and Amarillo hops. Slainte!

22oz - Aroma starts with big citrus hops and ends with smooth carmel malt. Pours red with a lasting off white head and great lacing. Flavor is chewy carmel and toffee with a quick hop snap. The initial flavor lingers for a long time. Granted it isn’t overly complex, but who cares? Great creamy palate. This is one tasty brew.

Aye what I purty red this lass be. Or--wait, is that Scottish? It’s red nonetheless. Like, Juicy Juice cherry red. It looks dyed. A big, foamy brownish white head sticks to the glass like tendrils and champagne bubbles glisten in the lamplight. Smells very rich and very hoppy! God I love Three Floyds Hops. Citrus and grapefruit and pine in the hops are offset slightly by a light caramel malt. Very nice. The hops are sour and bitter upfront, very big on the grapefruit, but are quickly mellowed by a very firm caramel malt. Good, but not as intense or complex as the nose suggested. Yet another great beer from the folks at Three Floyds.

Interesting beer....way overpriced. Pours a rich chocolatey amber with minimal head. Aroma is big citrus hops...but also a bit of toffee. Flavor is a bit confused and unbalanced...tastes like most other three floyds beers as far as hop profile...but the roasty/sweet malts try to find their way...and fail. Mouthfeel is light.

Deep chestnut body with a small head. Aroma is grapefruity hops with some caramel. Some other fruits as well. Flavor is the same, somewhat light bodied. Reminded me too much of Alpha King.. a worse version.

Reddish brown, off white head, caramel aroma, massive caramel flavor, finished lightly bitter. Pretty good.

Nice red pour, slightly hazy. Has a good amount of that signature amarillo flavor (lemon and grapefruit). A little bit of pineapple. Caramel malt with touches of toffee. Also, it has a distinct soapy flavor and a slick mouthfeel. I like the 3F interpretation of the Irish Ale, with the big american hops, but it could have been done better. The soap flavor is a considerable problem.

(bottle) Red-amber with small head. Very sweet malt aroma with toffee, some hops. Flavor is sweetish malt, again with toffee and some hops for balance.

Pours brown, maybe hint of red, with thin head. Aroma is incredible, something sweet a little brown sugar for a dark note, flavor is very well developed, balanced perfectly, super smooth! Mothfeel is amazing soft and almost sensual. A great beer from three floyds!
