Aroma is just an awesome balance of rich toffee and citrus notes. Flavor is much of the same. Very malty and caramelly backbone balanced by delicate citrusy, flowery hops. Also notes of biscuit, toffee and breadiness. I loved this beer. IMO the perfect Red Ale for hop heads. 3F’s does it once again. Firemoose15 (540), Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 22, 2006 On draught at the pub day before DL day. Aroma was hops and a light caramel malt. Pour was a reddish brown with a tan head. Flavor was good kind of decieving, nice mix of malts, caramel and toffee. Palate was good smooth and flavorful. I’m glad I waited to have it on tap. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 22, 2006 Bottle sampled with Beerded_one. Pours red\brown with a decent sized compact fluffy light tan head. Aroma of hops, citrus, and sweet malts. Flavor is smooth, citrus, roast, and a slight hoppy bitterness in the finish. Good body, good brew. twindadplus2 (415), Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 20, 2006 Dark red with a small but creamy beige head. Aroma is heavy with citrus and flowery pine (Those Floyds sure like their hops don’t they?). Flavor is a background of chocolate and caramel malt surrounded by hops bitterness. Very good but doesn’t the Irish Ale description say ’restrained hop character’? I guess the Floyds just can’t help themselves. glkaiser (1171), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 17, 2006 Dark, dark red ale....medium head. Hoppy aroma. Very rich malt taste right off the bat. A very smooth taste....bits of chocolate and fruit. One of the best "red ales" I"ve had. puzzl (2621), New York, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 15, 2006 Typical floydian arrogance in the nose, dominated by hops even when a style demands something other. Rating to style this beer would be basically worthless. The flavor has a nice dry maltiness under the hops and brash bitterness. jrob21 (1268), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 14, 2006 Nice caramel aromas. Tastes of grapefruit. Reddish amber color. Well balanced and smooth beer. Malty mouth feel. can8ianben (903), Pasadena, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 12, 2006 Nice and sentual. It has incredible body for an irish ale, lots of flavours going on. I doubt this stands out enough to remind me to get it again, but it was enjoyable while I had it.
