Thanks to the person who sent me this in a recent trade. I think it was beernbourbon. I’ve been meaning to pick up a bottle of this when friends drive up from Kentucky. It doesn’t disappoint but I think I prefer Alpha King.
Aroma / Appearance - The dense white head was the color of clean birch. The opaque body masked any carbonation in its caramel depths. Spruce, pine, and warm sun tea melded into a solid mixture of hoppiness and sweetness. Three Floyds did not overhop this one at all.
Flavor / Palate - Chewy, the mouthfeel leaves lots of time for inspection. As it trickles across the palate a trail of grass, caramel, and resin create a smooth experience. This is a change of pace from some of the other Three Floyd pale ales but in the end I think I prefer the regular releases. danielcurtis81 (912), San Diego, California, USA

Nose is sweet hop, pine resin, and caramel. Flavors are mild florals, some citrus and a slight hint of cinnamon. . Maybe it’s the hop variety that is not for me but at times almost taste like shampoo at times. General66 (171), Streator, Illinois, USA

This beer poured a beautiful deep amber color with a nice one finger width white head. It was a very nice pour! The aroma was an excellent mix of hops, citrus, pine, and some faint caramel malt. The taste was similar with a lot of hop and pine character with hints of citrus and malt in the background. The one thing that I really enjoyed about this beer was the mouthfeel. It stuck to my mouth and left a very good aftertaste. It finished a bit bitter though. Overall, a very good IPA by Three Floyds! soccer290 (138), Highland Park, Illinois, USA

You can tell just from the pour that it is full-bodied. Smells of pine, citrus, hops, and a little caramel malt. Tastes of citrus and hops, with a full-bodied mouthfeel and a nice aftertaste. Overall good, but I’d much rather a Bells Hopslam or a DFH 90 minute; not worth the cost. GodOfThunder (878), Orlando, Florida, USA
