Poured a copper-orange color with a generous white head. The aroma was dominated by sweet citrus and pine. The flavor did not follow the aroma in that the sweetness I picked up in the nose never really materialized in the taste. The taste was very hops forward with grapefruit, oranges, bread and pine. The mouthfeel was medium and complex-- a very satisfying malt quaff. The finish was short and clean with biter hops lingering and then dropping off suddenly. Overall: a superior IPA, I’d drink this every day if I could. Recommended. patrick767 (2051), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 21, 2008 bottle - Pours copper with a one finger white head. It smells of hops (duh) with citrus and a touch of pine. The flavor is intensely hopped with enough malt backbone to keep it from being overpowering. It’s full bodied and very full flavored, especially for a regular IPA. Excellent brew. Snojerk321 (2020), San Diego, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 19, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours a brilliant mostly clear blood orange with a light, frothy off whit head. Spotty lacing was left on the glass. Big time aromas of pine and citrus. The Simcoe hops are really prevalent in bothearoma and flavor. Great bitter finish. inkubus27 (252), Highland, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Feb 17, 2008 Smells very citrusy... big-time grapefruit and oranges. Actually it smells a lot like Hopslam. Pours a deep copper, with a nice head. Taste is kindof tough. It starts off citrusy, but finishes way too harsh. It drops off where Hopslam finishes.Overall, not bad though, and definitely a good IPA. CP (124), USA

Got so drunk I saw a troll running through some green fields. Oh wait that is just the label. AgentSteve (1378), SF Bay Area, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 14, 2008 Updated: May 9, 2008I think I got this from my 3F hookup mreusch. (Thanks Matt!) Nose is hoppy and pineapple like an IIPA (as I knew it would be!) Color is beautiful copper with a thin halo of an off white head. Flavor is a bit understated, with the nose overwhelming. A bit sweet and bready in the middle, and the finish is dry and just the slightest bit bitter. For an IPA, this is a very good beer. But I have to say, after the aroma, (and from 3F) I expected a bit more flavor. Still nice brew. TAR (2095), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 6, 2008 Hazy apricot in color. Thick, big-bubbled cap of foam persists as it clings with each sip. Orange peel, cantaloupe, stewed peaches, pinesap, and a touch of mango line the nose. Fluffy yet considerably chalky carbonation. Unfiltered. Initial burst of mango is echoed by a crunchy and well-defined toffee-glazed nutty malt sweetness. Bright drops of peach candy fuse seamlessly with vibrant grapefruit acidity to delay the inevitable resinous onslaught which stops just short of overtiring the palate. Spicy bite of hops snugly nestles into the palate to deepen the more lustrous and well-rounded medley of soft citrus and tropical fruitiness. Hops are extremely oily yet far from brash despite the high concentration of tongue-numbing resins. Alcohol is never a factor and things are well-attenuated. Negligible oxidation has rendered the hops slightly dull as they have begun to take on a cheese curd and plasticlike quality. Still, the hops possess enough refinement and succulence, and the sweet malt enough cleanness as well as definition to retain a ridiculously high quaffability. Finishes softly acidic and peach laden, yet with a deceptively powerful bitterness of grass and orange peels. Extensive dry-hopping yields a plethora of flavorsome citric hip burps. Maybe a bit yeasty and the bitterness somewhat brash and overly resinous, but mostly clean, focused and bright, the way a hop-centric beer oughta be. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Feb 5, 2008 Low carbonation streams upwards through a seemingly dense, copper body. An off-white head falls to islands whilst leaving intricate spackles of lace. (Although I deduct one appearance point for the sailor-troll on the label.) Tart, sharp, hop aroma finds grapefruit, pine, lavender, dishwater and vagrants. Mostly pungent. Flavor finds sour grasses and fresh green peppers to start while black pepper and grapefruit finishes. Hints of honey and dirty dishrag. Sweet & sour cloy, heartburn follows. Typically excessive yet poorly executed. Ham-handed hoppery seems like ignorantly slopping hot sauce over a well-prepared meal. If you’re in the mood for hops, this particular brewer creates a much <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Beer/three-floyds-dre offering.
