Bottle: Aroma of fresh hops, pine, citrus, caramel malt, slight grapefruit, and tropical fruit. Poured amber/orange in color with a small, creamy, dense, off-white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Very sparkling. Full of tiny, small, and medium-sized particles throughout. Excellent lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and medium bitter. Tastes of hops, pine, grapefruit, tropical fruit, citrus, and slight caramel malt. Medium body. Tingly, dry texture. Average to lively carbonation. Hoppy, medium bitter, lightly sweet, pine and tropical fruit finish. Tastes very fresh. tarheels86 (808), Washington DC, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 4, 2009 22oz bomber courtesy of tjthresh. Pours a translucent light orange with a sizable, white, rocky head that has okay retention and lacing. Aroma is amazing: huge butterscotch, caramel, ruby red grapefruit, lime, orange juice, curacao, Chambourd, Grand Marnier, floral hops, herbal hops. Pretty much the best aroma ever. Taste is big resiny hops, raw mango peel, a major nutty bitterness pervades- lots of dry almond and Kola nut. Creamy mouthfeel. Overall this is like Two-Hearted Ale on crack. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 29, 2009 Bottle, thanks Scott! Clear medium amber pour, slight head, tiny bubbles. Big, awesome piney, grapefruit skin nose. That’s what I’m talkin about. Pretty bitter in the mouth. Without the complexity and awe of Dreadnaught, without the balance of Alpha King. Still, it’s lively and fresh. Though I don’t dig that long, almost chemical finish on this. That may wear on me. jrallen34 (123), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 28, 2009 I drank this from the bottle into a chalice.
This beer pours a murky orange with a light white head that had decent retention and lacing.
The aroms is ipaish with hints of orange and robust hops.
The taste is decent overall but has some flaws. The start is sweet with citrus but then there is a burst of bitterness that lasts until several secods after you swallow. I don’t mind a good bitter beer but there is a metallic flavor to this that makes a little unpalatable.
Mouthfeel is very stron, but the metal brings down the drinkability. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 26, 2009 An average sized off-white head that slips quickly into a dark orange brew below.
Fresh fruity aroma with lots of citrus notes.
Smooth and well balanced. Not as hopped up as I would have expected from Three Floyds for the style, but well done.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 22, 2009 Tons of sediment in the bottom of a bomber. Split this one with a friend. Sweet bubblegum smell when poured in a glass. Started off mostly bitter with a slightly citrus, slightly sweet taste. Gets better as it warms, citrus taste really comes out and the unappealing bitterness fades. Not a bad beer overall, but there was a heavy spicyness that felt like I was drinking a shot of pepper with my beer. Very offputting.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 22, 2009 Pours a dark orange color, with a medium off white head. Smells of pretty big hops and earthiness to it, with hints of malt characters and pine. The flavor is pretty crisp and sharp with a nice hop and malt balance to it that made it really easy to drink. Very refreshing and full on flavor. Nice IPA, I wouldnt session it i dont think, but nice to crank one out once in a while. corby112 (770), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 22, 2009 Pours a cloudy dark golden orange color with golden burnt orange hues when held to a light source and a two finger frothy, pillowy off-white yellowish head that slowly fades into a lasting cap that coats the glass with chunks of soapy lacing.
Floral earthy hop aroma with a very strong citrus presence as well as some earthy pine notes and a caramel malt backbone with some biscuit/graham cracker notes. Dank resinous hop oils are prominent with citrus lemon and orange peel and a large pine character. The smell of this beer makes me salivate. One of the better smelling harvest ales I’ve encountered.
Floral earthy hops up front with a strong citrus presence. hints of grapefruit as well as orange and lemon peel. This beer is incredibly fresh and the dank oily hops provide the perfect dry yet sweet mouthfeel with a nice balance of floral notes and earthy dry pine. The mouthfeel is on the lighter end of medium body but has a slight creaminess that increases the drinkability dramatically. Subtle caramel malt backbone with hints of biscuit and graham cracker provide a nice balance but do not interfere with the hoppy goodness in the least bit. Very slight alcohol warmth is the finish but other wise the ABV is very well masked. As mentioned above this beer should be consumed fresh when it’s bursting with amazing sweet, dry bitter hoppy flavor. Dangerously drinkable and probably the best harvest ale I’ve ever had. Highly recommended.
