jerc (3050), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 18, 2008 2008-04-18. Lightly hazy orange body with a modest off white head. Very nice aroma of sweet orange or tangerine citrus is really quite nice. Flavour has similar citrus, but there is a bit more resin, and moderate bitterness throughout. Average palate is fuller than average. Not as in your face as some of their other products, but this is really flavourful and nice. Bottle from trade with chicagodri
cherr (162), Rochester, New York, USA Jul 4, 2008 Totally awesome beer. I got in a bottle from Kahn’s fine wines in INdianapolis, IN. Smell is of amarillo hops. The pour is nice and thick. The taste is angled towards the hops with some nice crisp malt. One of their best. To me, this is easier to drink than alpha king as it doesn’t have the hop harshness from the chinook. bgburdman9 (702), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jun 28, 2008 An old rating i finally got to entering. Aroma wash of straight hops. Seemed like every kind possible. Citrus, pine, earthiness, spice. Flavor was pretty hoppy and very very bitter. I wish this was year round and i cant believe its only 5.5 %. The aggressive hops could easily make like place this at 8 or 9%. IMtheOptimator (1096), Bethel, Connecticut, USA Jun 11, 2008 My 100th IPA!
Thanks go to sprinkle for this brew. Poured a cloudy bright amber with a creamy/frothy off-white head. Fresh hoppy aroma of bitter pine and lemony citrus, very refreshing and very typical of FFF. Flavor follows with lots of bitter pine and grapefruit rind hops, just a touch of sweetness, finishing dry and quite refreshing. Mouthfeel is a tad light. Has the hop and flavor profile of a bigger beer but feels rather on the light side, making it sort of floating in a stylistic quagmire between IPA and APA. Very pleasant with excellent hop flavor though a few shades shy of mind-blowing. Foolish_Mortal (931), San Diego, California, USA Jun 4, 2008 22oz bottle. Dark golden color with a small white head. Grassy, sharp pine hop aromatics. Vegetal, earthy hoppiness with a tinge of candied pineapple. Moderate malt backing with a slick sweetness. Caramel and residual grass and citrus in the finish. Mouthfeel is a light medium. tennisjoel (685), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA May 28, 2008 Stinky aroma, but in a good way. Fresh cut hops. Vegetal aroma. Interesting beer, like smelling and eating grass. Not my favorite hop combination here. I preferred Surly bitter brewer to this beer, while others thought this brew was superior. Each to their own. Thanks to ElGaucho for letting me sample this at the bigfoot vertical tasting I hosted.
