Bottle at Fall Beerfest In Toronto 2004. Light gold in colour. Aroma was malty (cookie, gingerbread), small amounts of hops. Flavour was of mildly malty, slight sweetness, very light hops. The body still had some life left, far amount of carbonation. Finishes quick with some malt bitterness. Very cool to try.

Malty nose, trace of hops too, hazy golden, small custard head. Malt and hops flavour, thin, pleasant, bitter finish. Nice, given the fact it was an old product. Thanks wolhfs and qdog.

Sample from a rather old bottle (2 or 3 years, we reckoned). Vibrant golden colour. Aroma is stale, but not completely inpleasant. Fruity malt and a strange saltiness in the flavour. A hint of hops left in the finish. Like others who tried it that day, I would’ve loved to have had a fresh bottle of this, as it seems like it would’ve been a pretty good beer. An older bottle. Golden color, touch of haze, white head. Kind of tart, salty, some malt sticking around still. The hops are pretty much gone, the body was suffering from the age. I can imagine this being pretty decent in its prime.

Thanks to whoever brought this to the Toronto Christmas Party ’04. Aged bottle and it didn’t fare too well. Salty soy nose, almost fishy. A bit of sweet malt in there. Nothing special but admittedly far from peak condition.

Aged bottle brought to Toronto by Qdog and Wohlfs. Golden yellow body wih the smallest of white heads. Aroma is a bit strange, with a sort of interesting fruity alcoholic aroma. Tart bit over some fruity maltyiness. Touch of hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste. Average palate. Very interesting but showing its age a bit.

I found a sixer at the bottom of a stack in the Foremost in Oak Forest. Sure, I knew it was old, the beer being discontinued for some time, but it was 3F, so I had to try it. Surprizingly, it held up fairly well, a slightly hazy golden color with a short-lived head and little remaining carbonation. But the smell wasn’t skunked at all, actually a fairly pleasant malty aroma with a dash of hops. The drink was kind of flat, but it had a well-balanced flavoring of malt & hops. Nice clean finish. This was probably a really good pils when fresh.

For the adventurous... There’s still two dusty six-packs remaining at that store.

Old bottle found in W. Lafayette by qdog. I wish I would have had this as a fresher beer. Even with this much age behind it the beer is decent. Light amber colored. Not much of a head. Aroma is still malt and hop. No skunk found in this bottle. Clean and crisp as advertised. Nice hop finish.
