Very creamy taste with a slight alcohol finish. I liked this one., very complex for a cream ale. jaymobrown (1354), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Nov 15, 2005 Didn’t dig this one so much. There was some hops, some sticky sweet flavor. Unfortunately, all I could taste was this rubberish, Band-Aid, gas hose flavor. It funkified the feel and flavor. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 14, 2005 Tap at the brewpub. This was probably the best all-around beer they had at the brewpub. It was a bit sweet at times, but I suppose cream ales aren’t too hoppy. Hazy copper amber. Minimal white fizzy head. Very smooth and velvety creamy flavor. Light fruity hops, some sweet lavendar malt, and a sweet earthy character almost reminiscent of a bier de garde. Not much aroma coming off... some flowery malty hops. As it warms, some piney hops are coming through in the taste. A little fizzy and very smooth and slightly coating in the mouth. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 14, 2005 Tap @ the brewpub. Semi hazy and bold orange in color with a big dusty off-white head. Vanilla sugared corn flakes kick start the aromatic theme, pulling from honey, vanilla milk steamers and natural vanilla extract. Nice, smooth flavor reminiscent of a spoonful of Honeycomb cereal, soggy from sitting in the milk for some time. Milky vanilla structure. Vanilla wafers wading in richly churned New York-style vanilla ice cream. Faint accents of condensed milk and crème de coconut. Gently, waxy palate feel with the faintest hint of alcohol presence. Toned, honed carbonation, finishing like cheesecake flavored frozen custard. Stands out amongst other cream ales, and the first time that complexity has graced the category. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 13, 2005 On tap and enjoyed with TAR and Rated X: Minimal head on this hazy amber orangy hued beer. The nose detected notes of honeycomb, spicy hops (clove and pepper), sugar, caramel and some nutty esters. The taste has a fruity component of apple and pear followed by some honey and sweet bready malts. Undertones of wood, earthy yeast, vanilla, and a pepper like finishing bite. The feel is smooth and dry upon the finish. Not too bad, an okay beer, not really sure what to make of it. RooftopRogue (423), Champaign, Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 12, 2005 This beer fills the glass with a mildly hazy maize color that has a decent head and lacing. The aroma is a nutty-vanilla. This beer is thin and spreads well through the mouth coating all the taste buds with a meek vanilla cream taste that lingers decently on the pallet. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 7, 2005 Draft, at the new Floyds Brewpub! A big, big beer, all right. Light, slightly cloudy orange body under a kind of soapsudsy head. Smell is pretty yeasty, to go along with it. Initial impressions of Wyler’s Orangeade mix. Rather gentle on the hops for a Floyds beer. At the moment, more alcohol than flavor, but it’s very young for an Impy anything. It’s mostly Munich malt brewed to impy strength, and frankly, that intrigues me.
