Big etoh and over ripe cherry notes amongst a smothering of bourbon, wood, vanilla and lighter caramel. Subdued hoppiness of pine to the cherry bourbon warming. I preferred the base beer. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 29, 2009 Dark roasted fruitiness (plums, prunes, deates?!?) bourbon, oak, and very muted hop bite. Underneath that is the addition of tart cherry notes that work surprisingly well. A bit too syrupy for me to have more than one. marcus (1868), Sacramento, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 21, 2009 On tap at the brewery. This dark brown beer poured with a modest beige head and an enticing vanilla cherry aroma. There is a very rich plum, cherry and treacle flavor that is a bit syrupy, but delicious, with a warming alcohol trail. The cherries mute the IBUs significantly and, along with the dark barrell-aged coloring, makes this a completely different beer from the regular Behemoth. satan165 (581), River Grove, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 19, 2009 appearance is murky brown not unlike a glass of whiskey. huge nose of whiskey and rotten cherries. cherries and wood and married in such that they can no longer be separated. flavor is cough syrup, big rotten wood. bourbon has clobbered behemoth’s many hops. without cherries to round things out as they do, this would largely be a wood bomb. hard to find the base beer amongst this. still a potent big beer that satisfies in its own way. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 19, 2009 I was so excited to see this at the 3F brewpub that i ordered it alongside my first beer just to insure it wouldn’t run out. Yeah, i might have looked strange, but who cares. Dark, reddish amber with an offwhite head. Aroma of bourbon, thick sweet malt, hops, and tart cherries. Flavor is mix of that sticky bitter malt sweetness of behemoth, nice flavorful bourbon, and tart cherries. really stunning, amazing beer, actually. If they could bottle this, they’d probably have one of the highest rated barley wines on RB. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA

Big alcohol in the nose with scents of piney hops and caramel. The taste is mostly bourbon with harsh grassy hops. kp (8396), Woodstock, Georgia, USA
