Commercial Description:
Alpha Klaus is Alpha King’s cousin. A big American X-mas Porter brewed with English chocolate malt and Mexican sugar and of course tons of strange American hops! Cheers.

Bottle from a trade with StFun. Pours black with tan head. Aromas of roasted malts and pine hops. Burnt malts, coffee and chocolate flavors with lots of pine hops. Medium body with moderate carbonation. It’s a good beer but something about the flavor combinations doesn’t click for me. Thanks Josh.

Bottle. Pours black with slight brown edge and some light tan head. Nose is border-line dreadnaught blanketing dark malts. Flavor is as much hops as you could ever hope for in a porter. The porter flavor is still smooth and solid, yet infused with hops. I love FFF, and I love hops, yet I am starting to wonder why every big beer from them is hop overload. It’s not even a bad thing, and I’m not even complaining. I guess I would just like a year round IS, not a once a year offering. Merry Christmas!

Pours a thick espresso brown with thick tan head. Aroma is heavy alcohol and raisin with very sweet sugar notes. Flavor is a sweet raisin with vanilla and coffee. Body is creamy with mild carbonation.

Bottle. Thanks to 17th floor for the hookup! Pours a deep inky brown with an espresso colored foamy head. Flavor is dark dry roast, hints of coffee and chocolate, has that nice sugar punch that I love about 3F. Finishes with a nice chunk of pine like American hop presence. Minor alcohol finish. This is as good as it gets for an Xmas beer! Nothing like Xmas Ale on Xmas Eve! Cheers!

Poured thick black with off brown head, smelled of thick smoke and hops. Taste starts out with hoppiness characteristic of 3 Floyds, then levels out into dark malt with coffee and chocolate that levels into a smoky finish. Excellent porter!

StLHops tasting. This looks pretty much like a porter. Nose is smoky ash tray which also describes the flavor. This porter offers the biggest hop profile of any I have tasted. Those hops provide a nice and surprising effervescence. A very nice beer but too much ash for me.

2009 Bomber from the very expensive Liquor Stop. Pours a little darker than Coca-Cola with a med. brown head that sticks along the edge and very light fast lace. The aroma has more wet hops than I can remember on any IPA much less a Porter: spicy pine, hints of lime, sour candy and, actually, Coca-Cola! Delicious! Such a mixture of roast malts and hops - it’s not normal! Taragon, basil, black coffee, perhaps a bit of the darkest chocolate, the flavor is not quite as lively as the aroma, but this may be the best flavor/price ratio of any beer even at Liquor Stop. The finish is coffee all the way out.

This beer poured a real dark black with little head, but what was there was really tan and almost caramel like. At first I almost smelled a strong red wine in the nose similar to a port. Coffee taste with a hint of cherries and a nice hop induced bitterness. I am a novice to this style, but this was thoroughly enjoyed.
