Sligtly carmelly, roasty, dark fruity, and chocolaty on the nose and in flavor. Nice medium body. Slight alcohol finish.

On tap at Three Floyds. Pours mahogany. Aroma of banana, dark roasted malts, sweet maple, oak, chocolate. Thick palate. Flavor is sweet with quite a bit of banana and roasted malts. Good, but not their best.

On tap at Three Floyds Brewpub and served in a snifter. This beer poured a dark brown with a thin head of tan foam that lasted throughout most of the glass. A fair amount of light lacing was left behind. The aroma of the beer was made up of chocolate, caramel, dark fruit, and some alcohol. The flavor was much the same with an added note of earthy, bready yeast. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and smooth with light carbonation. Interesting and tasty.

Pour is fairly opaque caramel ruddy brown with a thin tan head...smell is faintly smokey but predominantly sweet caramel and molasses...tasete is sweet and relatively one sided...caramel and molasses...some faint toastier malt flavors are there though...finish seemed a little bright...

On cask at the ale fest(which by the way was my first and probably last one unless they can get better crowd control sorta like DLD day)this was a tastey malty beer with a sweet finish,i am not that familar with this style but it was a nice beer and good to see the FFF guys try something different,it did have a nice smoke flavor to it but just had a sample to try and will re-rate when on tap at brewpub.CHEERS!

Pours a deep brown with reddish highlights and an eggshell head that was part creamy, part big bubbled. It had a bready, sweet aroma, chocolate with dark malt and burnt wood. It got mayhaps a bit too sweet up front in the flavor, but a smokey bitterness arose that balanced it out. Interesting to have a doppelbock at a "living ale" festival. I’d like to get more info on this brew.

On cask at Night of the Living Ales IV. This was my #2 beer of the night. Well done guys. Pours brown with a bubbly beige head. Nose is yeasty, caramels, chocolate, and light burnt malts. The nose isn’t too strong, but the flavor makes up for it. Creamy chocolate flavors. Bakers chocolate, sweet caramels, malty, toasted, biscuit, and charred malts. Wow, this is tasty. This is one of the best doppelbocks that I’ve had. I need a whole pint of this stuff.

cask at night of the living ales. didn’t pay a lot of attention to this but i know i didnt like it very much. it didnt even seem like a dopplebock to me, though it was reasonably malty. didn’t seem to have much lager character though it was pretty thick.
