Slightly sour wheat aroma with the merest hint of berry. Nice body. Not as sour as its Berlin brethren but a nice beer. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA

On draft at the pub: I had the blueberry syrup with it, but also tried the blackberry and pomegranite. Has a big head on it, nice lacing. It tastes like whatever syrup you get it with, and I kept forgetting to order it without the syrup to see what that was like. Really drinkable, I think the ABV is only 3.3%. A nice desert. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 15, 2006 Draft at Floyds,’ served in a Hamm’s goblet! First off, this is the best damn 3% beer I’ve had. As to style, I’ve only had the Berliner Kindl Weiss so far, and this is nothing like it. Very amber in color, with a thin draught head, quite apealing. Smell is zesty like a wheat, and I don’t get much sourness in the smell, nor in the taste for that matter. It’s just a bit tart, no hardball sourness. Nic told me he doesn’t dare have Brett in the brewery, so this is likely lactic or acid. A slight lambic nose and the zest and spice of a decent weizen. Despite having only 10 IBU’s, there is some assertiveness in the hops, too, perhaps a bit of citrusy C & C to match the sour mash. I never did a syrup to put in, but this was not over sour anyway, and indeed incredibly refreshing. Brigadier (1257), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA

Thanks to hezron for sharing some of his at Dark Lord Day. I picked up hints of sour wheat and bananas in a cloudy yellow body with a hoppy aroma. Tasting it, I found much of the same. This kind of disappointed me as most 3F beers have been outstanding but it was not the worst thing I’ve ever tasted. I would certainly not try it again if other things were on tap at the brewpub though. egajdzis (3645), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 29, 2006 Poured a dark golden color with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of orange, yeast, vanilla, and citrus fruits. Taste of apricot, peaches, some lacto, grains, and a tart finish. screigh (264), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA

I have never had this style before. My friend blurted out "cherry" and that is what we got. While I can’t complain I wish I would have gotten a staright berliner weisse to see what it was all about. I had never had this style before and it had an overwhelming cherry wheat flavor to it. JoeM500 (1876), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 19, 2006 I had mine naked. Not as sour and sharp as real examples from Berlin, but nicely done (you don’t see too many attempts at this style). Light and refreshing. I had some blackberry syrup (I think it was blackberry) added and it was so sweet and fruity, I’d guess it not to be a beer had I not known! Fun stuff... heemer77 (4312), Savannah, Missouri, USA

The aroma was dark gold that was nearly light amber. The head was white and foamy. The aroma was fresh and fruity with apples and strawberries. There was also sour cherries and apple core with hay dryness. This had a smooth light body. I also tried with the cherry syrup which made this more mild.
